Great additional feedback and I hope the crew takes this all in to consideration, your mocked up interface is way easier to understand in 60 seconds I could be navigating effectively.  Thank you for taking the time to provide this example.  (Tech Smith) = great feedback!

Thanks.
it took me some time, I hope my effort worthwhile.
Even if I do not have the English well.
A picture is worth a thousand words.

I hope to see a tab for layers.
For Easier to move objects with layers.

And the text is unworkable.
for example where is "grow fond" and "Shrink fond"  unworkable
in window imagine edit toolbar text settings they are too many clicks and It has a bad position toolbar always in right. (More outside the area)

It has much to be reconsidered to version 12 text fond size etc...
It was easier to work with text.
It's more lacking\flaws compared to version 12.

Having tools visible so they can be enabled with a single click would be a tremendous improvement over the v13 release version.  For certain, the ideas you show move us in the right direction for keeping the clicks to a minimum.

I didn't see access to the Quick-Style and Stamp items in the above idea images  Quick-Style has been a good way to keep documentation styles consistent.  Some stamps have made it possible to do image notations.  Unfortunately, previous request to provide professional level annotating tools got ignored for version 13.  Hopefully, they will be possible at some point.

I have found v13 to take so much time to use for project documentation that I've been forced to stop using it.  Version 12 is the only version I'll use until Snag-It goes back to an interface design that doesn't require excessive mouse clicks and scroll access to do what we do in v12 with a simple click.

If you remain as it is now, you are happy.
They are specialists, will find they Solutions.
If I wrote here does not mean it will regain in the next version.
It's just a discussion for or against or how we want to be next version.

+++++ Toolbar with two rows of Shortcuts toolbar i need more space in toolbar for my Shortcuts| Customize.

And if you can put additional icon Shortcuts like "Selelect color from image" etc.
Like in version 12 - I was able to put what I wanted in toolbar. | and what I needed in him.

All to be one Click away.
Using more mouse.

@Dany_Jim: very, very nice layout in the above screenshots!! Thumbs up.

Regretfully SnagItEditor v13 supports dark and light themes only, nothing like 'medium' similar to v11 (medium grey).

Looks great as well!
As for me . . .I would prefer the first ones - they look a bit like Photoshop/

Hopefully TechSmith is reading this. Personally, I think this interface is sooo much better than the relatively simple one currently offered.

The more I think about the toolbars on the side, the more I like that approach.  A moveable and Customizable toolbar would allow us to put our most often tool items on one or two toolbars.  This would be similar to v12's Quick Access toolbar, with the exception that the toolbar could be moved and docked, or left floating in locations of our choosing.  Adding movable and customizable toolbars could be a quick fix to v13's too-many-clicks menu design.  It would also be encouraging to see v13 changed to make it efficient for production work, and so I could stop thinking I wasted money on a v13 license.

From what I saw, I need  two toolbars or more to put my Shortcut (space for 32-40 Shortcut.)

Top toolbar, use it more for shortcuts like:
- Open
- Save
- Save as
- New imagine
- New From Clipboard
- Undo
- Redo
.........etc..........

in new  toolbar left  side or right side i want to put tools only for edit image, not like those listed above tools only for edit.
Toolbar to be activated in "Snagit Editor Preferences" by who, needs a second toolbar.

I just proposed, and even gave a few examples are the forum.
Your team has specialists, if the idea is good specialists to develop better

"Tabs Color for add more Shortcuts."
I think it is a good idea
in One Toolbar i have three tabs for Shortcut with little change, So enough.
1 toolbar X 3 tab = So enough space for Shortcut. (3x15=45 Shortcuts)

Toolbars - To be free to put what we want in them.

You've got some great ideas here. We really appreciate the time you've put into mocking up your thoughts. Some may be harder to implement than others. We've made some changes to some of the tool remembering and zooming for the next maintenance release (13.0.2), so I'd be interested in your feedback when that is released shortly.

I'm not sure exactly what the "more colors" tabs are. Is that so you can switch to another toolbar with different tools? So completely swapping out one set of tools for another?

Allowing the toolbar to be positioned on different sides of the UI is definitely interesting. You want your drawing tools along the side and more menu functions along the top? Any reason why you like that arrangement better?

As far as the color picker, what is it that you miss most from the previous color picker? The colors were just better in your mind? Or you liked that you have access to different shades of each color?

Hello Chris,

SnagIt is an important application in my work.  I use it extensively in my writing and documentation.  It is important because I can say more with an image than with verbose explanations.

One of the key features I like in v12 is the visibility of tool groups that made image actions quick.  Each tool provided a palette that went away once the action was taken, and would easily appear when the mouse moved over it.  Side tool palettes can do this as well if their child-dialog enables the use a "pin-state" option.  Pin-State toggles have been around for a long time and they allow palettes to be static displays or disappear based upon the user's setting.

Hearing that some of the ideas in this thread are under consideration is encouraging.  It is encouraging because I found the interface changes to v13 acted like image capture speed-bumps.

SnagIt isn't my only graphic platform.  In the other platforms I find most useful they support many of the ideas shared in this thread.  Having the ability to tailor our productivity tools is important because each person approaches work differently, and many of us have high expectations for our work.

To answer your question about the color selection and change process, consider downloading the trial version of Paint Shop Pro x9, or at least viewing the the "Getting Started" video: http://tinyurl.com/zbphgf5.  If you chose the video, slide the video control to around the 21-minute area and watch how easily colors are accessed and applied.  Paint Shop Pro has been one of the applications that have been using the "pin-state" option in their products.

Thanks for giving us hope that v13 might not be viewed as Techsmith's version of MS OS released Vista or Me updates.

Well said!    Thumbs up!

Even though I have a license on v13, I am not using it ...
Am using it on a VM once in a while only.

Reason?
Am afraid that once I switch to v13 on my host, I will be spending too much time on familiarizing with the new interface, i.e. spending time on figuring out what to find where, why things may not be working the way I am used to and seek for possible workarounds.
It'll  be delaying the routine things I do with v11.3

I know and admit, it is weird.
Then again, instead of being enthusiastic about a new product, I start off with a feeling of disappointment about the interface that is looking quite 'simple' to me,
when comparing to v11 that is.

"Is that so you can switch to another toolbar with different tools?"

You understand well.
Now it depends what puts each in toolbars (freedom to put shortcuts we want)
----------------------------------------------------------
By  Chris Larson
"You want your drawing tools along the side and more menu functions along the top? Any reason why you like that arrangement better?"

Forget - Freedom is good to be here.
Freedom to add  is good in all toolbars.
perhaps others want to add a shortcut up
We need toolbars, to put more shortcuts.

--------------------------------------------------------

Each color tab it is one toolbar, and we can put in it what Shortcut  we want. ( free customize adding-removing tools)

Like in firefox, imagine that you have 3 tabs open in  window, in each tab window are found, My Shortcut as I want to be. (Customize adding free-removing tools)

Point color, just switch between tabs to see my Shortcut (free customize each tab in toolbar.)

Color tab that are currently (active) Color to be highlighted as a light bulb.

Additional shortcuts like "Select color from image."  and the others etc....
Why do not appear in the toolbar are not useful?
Where freedom of choosing what they want to put in the toolbar, as Version 12.

in Photoshop CC all toolbar can move easily or change place, extension.
Open Photoshop CC and work with the toolbar move, change place, extension etc...
inspirational is good and can perfected much more.

in Photoshop CC - "Crop" You can use all the edge to move
not only points drag.
https://feedback.techsmith.com/techsmith/topics/snagit-editor-13-issues-point-by-point-crop-tool-all...

________________________________________________

About the color palette.

Create multiple tabs for color palettes.
- Swatches color
- Web color
- HSL Color Wheel
- Transparency
- RGB
- RGB color wheel
- HSV color wheel
- My color save.
..................................... etc.

Color palettes - Personally I like more than one in version 12.
or as in the first three pictures.
It helps me more to find color, something like.
One click away.

Qulck Styles - it is a good thing
but does not include a fixed color palette higher.
So it need more options more easily choose a color.

Who wants more can use another option from the tabs color (Color palettes):
Now we have only one option - many times frustrating.
To find color is take long time.

in the first four or the bottom pictures.
So which one you choose the color easier.
Which?

Maybe it will inspire some ideas for team Techsmith.
We can more easily choose a color (as in the first 3 photos | and the others)

Tool select and "Select color from image."
So we can use it more easily.

So that has simple operation, first or second. (See images below)
So why hide it.

Everything to be a "One click away"

I use a lot mouse.
hotkey I do not use them, I do not like Hotkeys.

It all looks perfect and 'we' here, we hope TechSmith will add this to SnagIt v13.
SnagIt is a great tool and therefore it deserves a great interface.
After all, a nice interface also sells better...

I just express my ideas and some opinions.

Hope the team @TechSmith to take them into consideration if they are good.
We will see what will be in version 13.0.2 or 14 for good luck.
I hope it will be much easier to use, and without bugs

I tried, now we will see what happens.
Maybe we receive a response,  to what I said/added up.

I hope TechSmith has Not forgotten their original mission for Snagit, To be the Best Screen Capture program on the planet and continue to add New Screen Capture features with each release.

If they Now want to be a do-all be-all Editing program with screen capture they should rethink that mission. All any of the best editing programs would need to do is add screen capture as good as Snagit and we would not need Snagit.

I really like Snagit for its Simple "Easy to use" Very Good Screen Capture Program abilities.

Adding too many features too quickly and do everything to try to "Please Everyone" is going to cause them to loose Focus on what really matters.

This concept has caused many companies much financial heartache and for some to go belly up.
I have seen it first hand and so have many of you.

I hope they have not already lost focus.

It should be more about Quality and Simplicity.

Am afraid I only partly agree with you:  previous threads show that TechSmith has been taking out things that were greatly valued by their customers. Possibly done to make it more simple especially for new users, or to make the program less complicated to be maintained from a developer point of view(?)

In case v13, the GUI discussion was a result of making the interface too 'simple' especially when comparing to v11.
Meaning to say that if they would have kept the basics  of the v11 interface, maybe with some improvements to make it look more 'modern/uptodate' then probably there wouldn't have been so much discussion/complaints.

Also users would have been familiar with the interface more quickly.

The 'old' interface worked well and likely it would have worked well on v13, certainly for most of the default features.

Personally I don't see any reason for this new simple interface.

I agree with you on the best screen capture program, but then again
the 'Best Screen Capture program' . . . also deserves the best interface.

Just my 2cts  ... :-)
