SnagIt 13 - Turn off pointer capture

Even though my capture settings have Cursor Capture disabled, all of my screen captures include the mouse pointer. Granted, I can easily delete it... but I'd like for it to just not be included in the capture. What am I missing here?

There are different capture preferences depending how you start a screen capture.  How do you do it?

Hello,

I am using the latest version of Snagit 13.1.3 and the problem still exists for me. I am using Windows 10. Every time I use Snagit from One Click, the mouse cursor is captured. despite that capture cursor is disabled in both All in One and Image. Has Snagit still not fixed this even after so many updates? Is anyone listening at Snagit about this bug???

I've seen it with many applications where something like this might be corrected by enabling the feature briefly, then turning it back off. Or possibly, enabling, closing the application, restarting the application and then disabling.

You shouldn't have to do that as the feature should simply work as advertised, but it might be worth a shot.

Cheers... Rick :)

Thanks for replying Rick. I have tried everything and even restarted the machine. No use. The same issue persists. Snagit released a new update (I believe today) and I was hoping this was fixed in that, but no.So pretty much nothing seems to fix this issue. Is there some contact here from Snagit who could take this to their concerned team and possibly fix this in future update?

If you define a present that has Capture Cursor turned off and assign a hot key to that preset, you can start the capture using the hotkey and your cursor won't be captured. This works whether you have One Click enabled or not. If you have One Click enabled, you can also select the preset from there each time, but that's more tedious than the hotkey approach.

In the All-in-One, make sure "Capture Cursor" is turned off. Then at the bottom there is preset name, click on it, after clicking the preset name, cursor will not be visible when capturing. Hope this helps, it worked for me.

I just got off the phone with Tachsmith support about this very issue. The settings of the "red button" are not configurable (which is completely idiotic). If you don't want a mouse cursor in your capture you cannot use the red button and instead must use your own custom preset.

Techsmith could EASILY fix this by either (1) making a set of customizable settings that apply to the red button, or (2) allow you to assign a preset to the red button.

Yes I realize one can simply ignore the red button, but without the ability to hide it, one's natural tendancy is to HIT THE BUTTON, and if it doesn't actually do your most frequently requested capture type, then what good is it?

C'mon! This is the type of B.S. I would expect from Microsoft.

Usability: Learn it. Live it. Love it.

"But without the ability to hide it"

I hide mine all the time. I never see it unless I'm attempting to troubleshoot to try and help others.

If you are seeing it, click the little gear icon followed by Capture Preferences.

From the General tab, choose the Capture Window option. When you click the OK button, the big red button makes a nice whooshing sound as it performs a disappearing act!

Cheers... Rick :)

Apparently I was unclear. I don't want to hide the entire One-Click panel. I WANT to use that. It's the useless red button I want to hide, since it serves no useful purpose since it cannot be customized.

I think I want SnagIt 11 back...I just upgraded yesterday to 2018.2.1...and there are too many problems and differences--extra steps that keep me from doing the things I could quickly do in the old version. What is so great about the 2018 version anyway? I think I may go back...
