Seems to be a common problem. Why Techsmith do not publish a solution instead saying open a ticket? I've upgraded to v2018 and it's very slow. Slow to open Snagit, slow to capture an image, and slow to open the editor.
The problem can be associated to a number of issues. Most of them minor. Like a driver that needs updating, or a setting that's amiss in the registry.Things of this nature.Guessing what's wrong with little to work with is quite difficult. Opening a ticket and working with tech support involves providing them some information about your problem, some detective work on their part. It might require some back and forth e-mail exchanges of information to track down elusive problems. Not all problems are easy to solve. It's a free service. They've resolved some tricky ones for me.Ones that took a few days to resolve. But the problem was resolved. That's what counts.

If you open task manager and find the offending module that is using all the resources, you can then shut down snagit totally then rename the file before restarting snagit to see if the issue went away Tech support is really your best option though
