Snagit 2018 for Mac is so slow that it's unusable.

Snagit 2018 for Mac is so slow that it's unusable. It takes 30+ to get crosshairs on my screen for a capture. I really regret upgrading from the old version, which was reliable - my go-to for image capture. I'm so frustrated and disappointed.

Everytime I try to capture, my computer locks up and I can't even Force Quit out.

Hi,

What versions of Snagit and macOS are you running? This sounds like an issue you can run into on macOS 10.14 if you have an older copy of Snagit.

I did a check for updates and there is a new version I upgraded to and now it seems to work Version 2018.2.3 (90456).  I was thinking it was set to auto update or notify.

Hi,

So sorry about the slowness! What version of Snagit 2018 do you have? We had an issue where captures would gradually get slower, but that was fixed in 2018.1.1. If you have newer than that, I would reach out to our Tech Support team so they can help you get things back up to usable speeds.

Both are up to date. Mac OS is 10.13.6; Snagit 2018 is 2018.2.3.

Thanks for the info. I would try restarting your computer and if that doesn't improve performance, then I would recommend opening a ticket with our tech support team.

If you are staying with High Sierra, yes, but macOS 10.14, named Mojave, was released in September.

I've never had an issue with slowness or Hang on My Mac's  but then I've undated every time a new update came out. I am currently using Mojave 14.0 and  using shifting-Control-S The crosshairs are are up almost instantaneously with the Orange short cut box. If course the machine I use now use as SSD and have 16gb Ram and i7 processor.

I have the same issue,  capturing just became very slow after upgrade to Mojave.  Please address this issue,  thanks.

That version should be performing well. I would open a ticket with our Tech Support team so they can look into why it's not performing as it should be.

This is also happening with Snagit 2019 and Mojave (10.14).   This is really noticeable when capturing video.  It only happens when you are capturing video in Safari.  If you are capturing video in Chrome, it works just fine.  It appears to be a Safari and Snagit issue (2018 or 2019).   I've opened a support ticket but it doesn't seem they are taking the issue very seriously.  I guess we will just need to wait until more people report it.
