Snagit 2018 lost features from older versions

I upgraded to SnagIt 2018 but found that it has lost several features that made editing images easier. For example, when I now place an object (text, arrow,...) it is no longer selected so if I immediately try to edit it's properties the changes don't apply to it.

Also, several of the property fields, like font size or line width, used to have up/down arrows making for easy and quick adjustments. Now I either need to use the slider (awkward and imprecise) or type in the field and hit Enter (awkward and slow).

And the default color palette no longer includes the larger selection of standard colors that used to be there. Finding bright red is no longer easy - the default red appears to be an off-standard color.

All in all I really like the product, but some of the recent changes have made it less productive to use.

One shortcut, you can save custom colors.

Switch to the RGB Mode so you know you have 100% Red, Green, Blue, etc. selected.
I say switch to RGB because the sliding dot doesn't work very well, it doesn't get up in the corner tightly and select pure colors.
You will probably need to type in values manually.

Than use the add to my colors button.

Sure, you can.  I think the OP's point, with which I agree, is that a standard palette of just 10 or 12 colours (depending where you stand on the "black and white are not colours" debate) is just a little bit on the miserly side, especially since subtle isn't the 12's strong suit.
