Snagit 2018 Multiple Monitors - capture area distorted

I have a Dell laptop with a Samsung external monitor.

When I have the external monitor attached and active, screen captures on my laptop monitor are off. I cannot see on the monitor what is being captured.

1635x1080 appears by crosshairs on laptop capture screen
3840x1080 appears by crosshairs on capture screen when on external monitor

If I remember the position of my mouse pointer I can guess at what is being captured but it does not show up on the screen.

Has this been addressed or changed in the 2020 version?

This has been addressed in Snagit 2020, or at least it is not a problem for me in Snagit 2020.

is the zoom/scaling the same for both monitors (I assume 100% for both)
I don't think I've ever seen a 6bit monitor, and I also wonder if that's contributing to the issue
Can you increase the color scale on the first monitor to 8 bit (16 million colors)?

6-bit is 64 colors, 8-bit is 256 colors, 24-bit is 16 M. (I haven't seen 6 or 8 bit in 25 or 30 years.)
