There seem to be a lot of bugs in the 2018 version of SnagIt - I suggest waiting until it works as expected

Hi,

Sorry about the bugs! We're working on fixing the ones we're aware of. If there are any that were particularly annoying, do you mind sharing them here?

Hi,

I'm receiving a lot of email regarding SnagIt bugs (2018 ver). Since I use it a lot to capture videos for the classes I teach, I would rather wait until I start seeing emails stating how great it work. I have not upgraded my MacBook Pro yet, so I don't have my own list. The bugs I hear other speaking to let me know that it's better to wait for now.
Thanks for you understanding

@Herb, I understand.

However, TechSmith can't fix issues they don't know about.  So if you could please either list the bugs you have heard about, or ask the person who encountered the bug to file a bug report, or list here, it would be greatly appreciated by your fellow user.

Thanks.

Luke can correct me if I'm wrong but you can have both 4 and 2018 on your Mac. That would allow you to discover the good and/or bad of 2018 relative to your needs and go back to 4 if you have a problem. Very likely, both can't be running at the same time. I do have both and have quit 2018 and fired up 4 to see if I could recreate problems mentioned in this forum. I don't always speak but it's a great way to learn.

Yup, "side by side" installs is something we introduced with 2018 to better support precisely this workflow. (and you are correct, only one can be running at any one time)

Yes that is the advantage of using the Mac system. As long as application are named differently, both the application and its system components are set up independently.  there different preference files. Therefore, often time two version can operate at the same time.
