Snagit 2019 mac Worst Version Ever

I'm a Snagit fan and have been using and upgrading it for over 9 years. This 2019 version is slow and chunky and when I try and do anything I get the spinning wheel and have to wait. Going back to 2018 and it's fine.

While it looks like some good new features in it, I will have to go back 2018 until they do some upgrades.

I agree, although when I chatted with them and they told me to "Locate all com.techsmith.snagit.plist files and move them to your trash", it solved the problem.  However, today the program was acting 'squirrelly', so I agree it's the worst release I've ever gotten.

Hi Les;
It's unfortuante that you are running into performance issues with Snagit 2019; to confirm, what is the full version of Snagit you have installed on your system? What version of Mac OS are you running? How many monitors do you have connected to your Mac?

Hi,

If you're on macOS Mojave and running 2019.1.0 and Google Chrome, then it's possible to be seeing these freezing issues. These are fixed in 2019.1.1 which should be available via the Check for Updates menu. If you are still seeing problems with 2019.1.1, please let us know.

I agree. Ive been using Snagit for yeas and gotta say that it's just getting worst and worst. I regret buying Snagit 2019, cant do any simple action with it. it is so not intuitive, cant even crop a canvas!! every simple action became so complicated and there are so many bugs.

Luke,

It would be great if you can get the saving fixed. You take a screenshot then save it as jpg you now have two images.

In the older versions, it was much easier to find stamps, shapes callouts.

IMO after 10 years of using Snagit this version is a lot hard to use. Friends who also use it say the same.

I can look into the saving one. I know that was changed on purpose a few years back due to complaints from people who wanted both. Seems we'll want a setting for this.

When you say that stamps and callouts were easier to find, do you mean the tools or the individual stamps/quick styles?

Yes saving should be in the settings.

Finding different quick styles.  It would also be good if it remembered the settings of things after you close it. Like I never use shadow but you have to keep clicking it. This wasn't a problem in the last version. I would take a screenshot to show you but you can't screenshot Snagit :)

So when you make changes to a quick style, it should be creating a new one at the bottom (if you're not seeing it, it might not be scrolling down for you). You can then click the + button to add it and then go delete the one you don't want. I believe Snagit has worked this way at least since version 3 when I joined the team. What was the last version you had before 2019? Was the shadow issue with shape/callout or stamps?

Another thing that may be helpful is a new feature in 2019 called the favorites tool. Once you have the quick styles the way you want, you can click the little star icon on each quick style and it will be added to the favorites tool. Then you can have all your favorite stamps and styles across different tools in one place.

Actually, you can use Snagit to screenshot Snagit! In the capture preferences, you'd just have to uncheck "Hide Snagit when capturing". A little hidden, but it can come in handy.

Hi,

In 2019.1.6 we added an option to keep both images on save as, or to only keep the image you're saving as. The setting can be found here:
