Snagit 2020 - combine pictures without template

For a short time it was possible to combine pictures without templates, in Snagit 2019. The pictures was numbered and aligned by the software. In Snagit 2020 we have templates, and they are good, but it's "title", "subtitle", "captions", "created by", Techsmith ad etc... Little free space for the main thing, the pictures... Is it still possible to combine pictures in the "old" simple semiautomatic way?

Thx

You can find the old style in the "Combine in Template" Option

With your captures selected, go to the "Image" menu and select Combine in Template...

Or

Right-Click on one and select Combine in Template...

In the template window use this one

That is the old style one.

You know, when I first saw that feature I knew that folks would be here asking why they introduced a feature, then removed it in the very next version.

Sure seems it would have been much clearer and simpler to just add a new right-click option so it looked like this:

Then operate the old way if you clicked Combine Images... and get the new template dialog if you click Apply Template.

Cheers... Rick :)

Amen from the other Rick. I think they are concentrating on selling their template/stamps subscription. I wonder if there will be any more free stamps?

I agree with your suggestions, Rick. That is what I would like too - the old Combine option as it was, as well as the new template options. I'm excited to use the new templates, and they were one of the main reasons I updated to 2020, but I used the old Combine all the time which was faster and all I need at times.

Unfortunately, you have to go through the longhand version of events like Dubie has described.

I preferred SnagIt 2018's approach as well.
2019 forces you to chose a template "First."
Where as 2018 takes you straight into the combine in Template window/wizard.Utilizing the default/only template available.
I have little use for the created ones. Or the stock one for that matter.
I have to change so many little things, the templates are of little advantage over nothing at all. With regards to speeding my workflow.

TechSmith constantly manages to introducing additional clicks into functionality, to essentially accomplish the same thing as previous versions. Without a user preference setting or some other means to override these additional clicks.
I find these workflow slowdowns unnecessary and frustrating.

Totally agree:

Techsmit: PLEASE bring back the OLD style combine feature.
I use it multiple times on a daily basis. This is adding much value to the product in my opinion

Simple 'ctrl-alt-c' and it's done.

Please give the Template Combine feature its own short cut and line in the context menu.

Suggest the solution is to keep the templates, BUT a) the default template should be the 'custom' template' thus only one extra click for the old style and choose what you want for the new styles and b) the Custom template should be called 'No template'

PS I am only here because I wanted the old style/no template.
