Snagit 2020 Templates - Idea and a request.

I have been playing around with the Snagit 2020 templates and the drag and drop image placeholder is a nice addition to the software.

I took the templates down a different road though as I wanted something different than the basic image block and text layouts that come with the program.

The layouts I have been creating are more aimed at ads and meme usage.

These type of layouts I usually create in PowerPoint or Photoshop but with the drag and drop placeholder now in Snagit, it offers a way to take a capture and put that capture into a layout from one place and then share it  easily to quite a few places.

Note that these layouts don't work exactly as the Snagit layouts where as you can select some images and then chose a layout and the images are auto placed into the layout. It's more of a manual process but once you create your layout it's only a couple of clicks to completion.

Did you know. The drag and drop placeholder can be a circle or rounded corner rectangle.

This could of course change with further development of the feature. I really hope it doesn't though but instead improves on those abilities and advances into more options made available for the user/creator.

With that there are a couple of ideas I would like to suggest.

1. Allow us to rotate the image placeholder.

Some examples where it would be useful.

2. Apply perspective to the image placeholder.

Since Snagit doesn't have this option even available for objects or elements yet but only for the whole image, I don't put a lot of stock in it happening but it would open up a lot more creative possibilities.

In closing, I like the new feature and hope Techsmith throws us some options to really make the most of it and doesn't take away from what it already can do.

No doubt that the template idea on SnagIT can be used for advertising type creation especially with the idea of irregularly shaped placeholders. Well done!
