Please please please!! add 4K capture to Snagit for Windows. I have added the request for Camtasia as well. I have a Microsoft Surface and 28" 4K Dell Monitor. Right now I have to reconfigure the monitor to 1080p and change windows scaling, which requires a logout and completely screws up my workflow. I like to use snagit for quick captures as I use it for static images, it a much quicker workflow. Right now I have to either switch to my Mac to record 4K which limits the applications I can record. Considering youtube is making 4K mainstream I would hope this is on the development cycle. Could anyone comment on timing?

Even though I initiate video captures in full screen mode but SnagIt reverts to a window or region. Also, the profile manager does not allow one enter screen resolutions up to the maximum that the screen actually is for another option at full-screen shortcut.

Hi all - I’m excited to share the news that we released a new version of Snagit today that supports full screen video capture on displays larger than 1080p. With Snagit 13, you can record every pixel of your 4K monitor, Surface Pro, or other retina-quality display!

Snagit 13 will scale your video down to 1080p by default, as the video is captured. If you are Windows 10 you can change a setting to save and share videos at full resolution should you need all the pixels (of course, the file size and upload time will be affected):

(Note: this option is only available on Windows 10, due to limitations on other operating systems.)

Even though Snagit on Mac has been able to record the full screen of retina displays for some time, we also added a setting to support full resolution production in Snagit 4:

Read more about what’s new in this version.

Try out the new version of Snagit for 15 days – download it here.

If you own a license to any earlier version of Snagit on Windows or Mac, you can upgrade to the latest and greatest for only $24.95 USD – see upgrade details here.

This reply was created from a merged topic originally titled Does the new Snagit version have any size limits for video captures?.

Currently I use Snagit 12.3 on a Windows 7 desktop. My screen resolution is 1920 x 1200 pixels (16:10).
When I want to do a video capture of the entire screen Snagit cuts off the bottom, it seems it has a limit of 1024 pixels for the video height.
Has that changed in the new version?
