Snagit 8 no longer works correctly with Windows 10.

My problem is with Snagit 8 AND Window 10 is:
I had to re-install Snagit 8 on 10.
Tried to "snag a screen" of a receipt in Firefox. ALL of receipt is visible.
Hit "capture",
Snagit, I Assume, ZOOMS in on my screen and CHOPS OFF THE RIGHT SIDE and only CAPTURES about the left half.
Tried ever setting in Snagit and was never able to see the right side  due to Snagit ZOOMING in.
Anyone else?
Window 7 of my copy NEVER DID this.
Anyone?

Hence the reason software is constantly being updated. Likely you just need to upgrade. Many things have changed with both operating systems as well as SnagIt to keep up with current technologies.

Cheers... Rick :)

Forgot to mention that TechSmith does also offer a free trial for SnagIt 13 so you can test it to ensure that captures now work as you would expect.

True but having tried v12, it is a glitzy, weird thing appearing on my screen, no options. so I deleted it.
I like to command of my own hardware/software, a window, buttons, etc to control of instead of "watching the bouncing ball". Software is not suppose to be glitzy but powerful, lots of options....
Snagit 8 was a great version, even included the CLASSICAL LOOK.

So, Patrick Reeves

Not sure why SnagIt 8 is giving you problems. Maybe your monitors resolution has been set to something other than 100%?
I installed SnagIt 8 for the heck of it. I don't seem to have the problem you encountered. I'm running Firefox and I captured at full screen, and a couple of smaller regions that I pasted over the full screen capture shown below.

Scrolling window wouldn't work for me and I wouldn't  be surprised if there are some other bugs. But overall, I've found older versions of SnagIt to be very stable and usable.

I'm running a fully updated Anniversary Home addition of Windows 10.

Patrick Reeves,

I observe the same symptoms which you reported.
Not only was the right side of the screen chopped,
portions of the the bottom was chopped as well.

A partial workaround by our IT folk works as follows:
Right Click screen background > "Display Setting" > "Scale and layout" > "Change the size of text, apps, and other items" > "100%" (instead of earlier problematic setting of 125% or higher)
The screen won't zoom in anymore upon invoking the capture command.

Yes, the fonts are smaller and harder to read,
but the color substitution feature and simpler GUI in SnagIt 8
is important for my work to bear the drawback.
(Don't like the SnagIt2019 GUI, though "tolerance" for color substitution is awesome).

Have you tried a re-install?
I don't use SnagIt 8 normally. However I have it installed. It wouldn't start for me.It was broken altogether for some reason.
I couldn't get a repair install to run.I had to uninstall 8 and re-install to get it to work.

I didn't test much of anything. But it was able to capture both of my monitors.
1 is 2560 x 1440 and the other is 1920 x 1080.
I used windows to capture the app open on my large monitor and capture on the other.

Might be worth a try? I'd like to hear if you do and if it works. Some others might like to  know as well.
