SnagIt and the dreaded JPG of CYMK

Ran into an unusual bug - we had some images we could open and edit (just using Snagit to resize and some other minor edits to images sent to us), but they always gave us an error when we tried to save them. After tons of experimentation, we found that they were using the CYMK colorspace (apparently they had been converted for print). Using ImageMagick to convert them to sRBG made the problem go away. I don't expect SnagIt to handle weird random things like CYMK JPGs, but better error handling would be appreciated. We really had to dig to figure this one out.

Hi,

So sorry about this issue! We're actually working towards supporting CMYK files in Snagit without the need for conversions. I'll let you know when we have that update available.

Hi,

We released a 2018.2.0 update today that now supports CMYK and Greyscale images without any need to convert them! If you run into any images that still don't work, we'd love a copy of those images so we can try to support them as well.

Wow. Thanks for that. We've had a terrible year overall with vendor responsiveness to bugs, and while this is a relatively minor issue for us it's nice to know that there are at least a few companies out there that still take enough pride in their products to fix even the small things. Much appreciated, and we wish there were more people like you.
