The Snagit Autoscroll Helper is not compatible with Firefox Quantum, which was released in November 2017 and required a rewrite of many add-ons. The currently posted add-on hasn't been updated for three years and is will not work with the latest Firefox versions. https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/snagit-autoscroll-helper/

Can this be updated to work?

Thanks.

This reply was created from a merged topic originally titled Is there a replacement for SnagIt Autoscroll Helper?.

I am using SnagIt v3.3.7 (78055) on a Mac Book Pro and this great feature is not working any more and after so many years using it I am driving myself crazy.
Somebody can help? Please!!!

I'm now at Firefox v 59.0.2 on Mac OS 10.10.5 and I'm about to update to the latest version of MacOS.  Scrolling has not worked in Firefox for months.  Please fix it.  Just Vertical Scrolling, not Vertical and Horizontal, would make me happy.
It seems like TechSmith bit off more than it could chew when it tried to get too fancy by adding Horizontal Scrolling.  Very few pages are wider than one's screen, but many many require Vertical Scrolling.
Autoscroll seems to be the most important feature provided by TechSmith.  If TechSmith is abandoning it for Firefox please state that to the user base.  If stated, with a satisfactory reason, we might be willing to accept it.  If this is a back burner issue which TechSmith still intends to address when it has resources available, please state that.
Letting customers stew for months on end is not an acceptable business practice.   If Autoscroll is being abandoned for Firefox and perhaps for other browsers too, please state it.
Bottom Line:  What is Going On with Autoscroll?

It would be a very proactive and progressive step if Techsmith took their MAC community request seriously.

I have been asking for this feature to be updated for any browser on a MAC, but primarily Firefox for more than 18 months. Techsmith threw the hot potato  back, as an issue with Firefox, yet they do not provide any alternatives for any other browsers on a MAC?

Vertical auto page scroll is such a basic feature, I can't believe they would want us to pay for upgrades until the tool actually becomes a USEFUL tool again to MAC users.

TAP it is not a great sign that they can't even reply to your post of 2 months ago?...pretty bad customer care....or lack there of. ...Techsmith please listen to your community...I personally have been using and paying for your software since 2000!

Hello Mac Users of SnagIt,

I'm now using SnagIt 2020.1.0 (96026).

As of the release prior to the 2020,  SnagIt has worked beautifully for making Scrolling Captures of Firefox Browser Windows on my MacBook Pro 15".  The AutoScroll Helper seems to be gone, and I don't miss it one bit.

I'm now running macOS Mojave 10.14.6 and Firefox  Browser 72.0.2

It took a bit of study and trial and error, but I can now use the Manual Scrolling provided by SnagIt to capture tall windows just fine, and on rare occasions have also used it to capture tall wide windows.

I think that TechSmith has wisely backed off a little to make scrolling an easy multi-step manual process.  Study it and experiment a little.  I think that you will like the new manual process.  It has been stable and has continued to work with each release of Firefox since TechSmith introduced it with SnagIt 2019 (as I recall).

Are you referring to the "panoramic" scrolling feature?

I'm using SnagIt 2020.1.0 (96026) and Mac OS 10.15.3, Catalina. I just successfully utilized auto scrolling with Safari 13.0.5 and Chrome 80.0.3987.87. Both browsers automatically scrolled both vertically and horizontally to capture the entire page. Both produced easily readable results with no visual defects.

I also tried using Firefox 72.0.2 (64-bit) but pressing the auto scroll arrow, enabled the "panoramic" mode and I was able to successfully capture the entire window manually. I didn't see any visual defects.

I enlarged all 3 captures in the snagit editor and the only difference I could tell between all 3 is all the text appeared slighter larger in the Chrome capture. I only tested with one webpage but this was an easy process with all 3 browsers and I'm happy with all 3 results.
