Snagit behaves badly if you're a power user

If one is a power user, they already have workflows dependent upon various hotkeys. When Snagit installs, there should be some type of hot key use notification and editor. After installing Snaggit, various hotkeys silently installed globally, completely screwing up my workflows. Problem being obvious, I'd have just uninstalled and moved to other software but I am under deadline. So I searched and searched your online docs and only found scant information about the hot keys. I had to hunt around the application until I finally found that the "print screen" text beneath the "Capture" button was actually a control to change that workflow-offending hot key. That "print screen" text being a control is not obvious in the slightest, and I only realized it with a random click while cursing your opaque interface.

The print screen seems to use the last capture you did. i.e Image, panoramic etc.
Build some capture presets that do what you want and assign them hot keys

I paste into a lot of emails without the need to save the capture so CONTROL SHIFT G will resize the capture to 500 px tall and not call the editor. for instance

Issue being, I already use the "print screen" button for automation in Photoshop, and Snagit's grabbing of the 'print screen' button, broke that workflow, and it is a part of the video creation workflow that I am using Snagit within. I was lucky when I happened to click on the "print screen" text and realized it is a control allowing the hot key to be changed. There is nothing in the documentation telling a user about this feature.

Hi there

You said:  ...There is nothing in the documentation telling a user about this feature.

I'm guessing you haven't seen the SnagIt help at this page?

If so, perhaps you overlooked this highlighted bit?

Cheers... Rick :)
