Snagit Camera icon, incompabible version, on a Mac

I constantly have trouble with snagIt saying that the helper is a comptabile version (I assume with the SnagIt editor). On my MacBook Air Os Sierra 10.12.2. Therefore, I thought it would be good to upgrade.
I've deleted snagit from my apllications, restarted by Mac, BUT the camera icon is still in the menu bar. It tries to install snagit, but as soon as I allow it, it is say again that it is incomptable.
This camera icon is clearly something that I first totally need to remove. But where is it? It is not in my application. Neither in my startup items. It's a mystery... I've been a customer since 2006. This tool should simply work. Any help would be appreciated!!!

Hi Erwin,

I'm so sorry about this! First question, what version of Snagit do you have? If it's old enough, it might not be compatible with macOS Sierra. If it's not too old, then here's what I would try.

If you click on the camera icon and then choose quit, then the camera should go away. Then if you launch the new version of Snagit, the new Snagit Helper should take the place of the old one. As for where the app is on your system, my best guess is that there's a version lying around from the updater that you'll want to remove. If that's the case, it would be located at ~/Library/Caches/com.TechSmith.Snagit/org.sparkle-project.Sparkle.

Let us know if this helps.

One tiny detail that Luke forgot to mention. In more current versions, the camera is gone. It has been replaced by a tiny version of the Snagit "S" icon.
