Snagit + Camtasia bundle allowed me to discover Sangit

As a technical writer in the software industry, I've been making screenshots non-stop for 2 years with not much more than Paint or ShareX. Now we will start creating learning videos for our user group and decided to order the bundle because of the minor price difference. Without the bundle I'd have not discovered how much better Snagit is as any other free snipping tool. Particularly the ability to show the mouse pointer (and edit it!) is really useful for me. I wish I had known about this tool when I started =)

I could not agree with you more.  I use a single-source documentation product from Madcap Software called "Flare" to generate Help files, PDF Manuals, and all sorts.  Many years experience has proven the value of top quality screen shots. As the old adage goes, "A picture is worth a thousand words!

Heya George, I'm aware that Madcap also makes a screen capture application known as Capture. I'm guessing that even though that's the case, you too are a SnagIt user?

Care to expound a bit on why you feel SnagIt is a better option?

Note that I'm a huge SnagIt fan myself. I just like to know what others feel that makes SnagIt stand out from the also rans.

Hi Rick, Madcap's Capture was very basic when I used it last, and lacked many of the features in SnagIt.  Hence when I bought SnagIt, as well as better image handling, I was able to use it quickly and easily outside of Flare for all sorts of things where I need to explain something to a client, or indeed to a tech. support person when I need help myself.
My only criticism is when TechSmith change the user interface, and I struggle at times to find where things have been move to.

Thanks so much for your answer! Most appreciated.

Personally, I'm an Adobe fanboy. You are likely aware that Flare only exists because of the RoboHelp debacle. (the Flare developers used to be the RoboHelp developers)

Anyhoo, I sad that because RoboHelp also includes a screen capture tool known as RoboScreen Capture. And while it does a number of things, SnagIt does them infinitely better. So I've been a fan of SnagIt for a very long time. And oddly, it's because of RoboHelp that I'm familiar with SnagIt to begin with. Way WAY back, when I was working in the corporate world, our copy of a RoboHelp upgrade arrived along with a free copy of SnagIt as an enticement to upgrade RoboHelp. I never looked back after that and SnagIt became a "no brainer" upgrade!

Thanks again... Rick :)

Yes indeed.  I also used Robohelp for a long while, but our guys referred to it with the p changed to an l, and I tended to agree before the key guys started up Madcap.  It was therefor a no-brainer to switch to Flare.
