About two months ago Snagit started crashing my mac. At first it started when I was using it really heavily to capture images. Then it became more frequent. I finally removed Snagit from my computer, but I need it. So, I reloaded it today and the first thing I have is issues with images not capturing the first time. Is there a procedure troubleshoot what this might be? Ideas??

Hi,

What version of Snagit and macOS do you have? When you say that images are not being captured the first time, can you describe (or capture) what you're seeing?

The Mac is Catalina 10.15.5.  Snagit is 2020 1.3 (96047)

This recent issue only happened twice today, then it started behaving. It said something like the application was cashed... with a button Try Again and another option. This was immediately after re-downloading Snagit and installing.

When it crashed my Mac in the past, I would do a screen capture, a simple image, and my Mac would just hang up, the spinning wheel. Would have to power down and then back up.  That became more and more frequent until I removed Snagit about 2 weeks ago.

It's a power tool for me and I miss it. Appreciate your help.

Thanks for the information. That dialog normally happens if there's been a crash the last time we tried to open a capture. Usually choosing "Try Again" will work. To figure out what's going on with the crashes, if you open the Console app that comes with macOS and select "Crash Reports" on the sidebar, are there any logs for Snagit 2020? If so, those will be very helpful!

With macOS Catalina, be sure to enable SnagIt 2020, in:

o  System Preferences > Security & Privacy > Privacy > Screen Recording

o  System Preferences > Security & Privacy > Privacy > Camera

o  System Preferences > Security & Privacy > Privacy > Microphone

o  System Preferences > Security & Privacy > Privacy > Full Disk Access and

o  SnagItHelper2020 found in System Preferences > Security & Privacy > Privacy > Accessibility
