When I start a capture, the cursor disappears. So you can't see what you are capturing..  This just started a few weeks ago.

My cursor disappears when I start a capture and always has done. Do you mean that the crosshairs don't appear?

If you want the cursor captured also go to the capture window and turn "capture cursor" on.
Then it will capture the cursor along with your captured image.

Ithanks, I didn’t explain correctly. When I am capturing an image, I want to see what the perimeter of my capture is before clicking the camera. I can no longer tell how much of the screen is being captured.

When you click to capture and hold the mouse key down and drag to where you want to stop,  it shows the selected image BEFORE you release the key which actually captures it.

The selected area is normal and the background is darkened.

Make sure your using the  All In One capture setting.

That will give you access to the perimeter I believe you are referring to.

I press All In One, Press Capture -- as soon as I press Capture, my cursor disappears, don't see the dashed selection area lines.  Then when release the mouse button, the camera bar appears, still no dashed line outline.   Press the camera and then I get to see what was selected.   This worked fine until a few weeks ago.  Perhaps I should delete the app and reinstall?

You could do that but I would raise a ticket with Support first.

When you click all in one and then click capture your cursor SHOULD disappear and is replaced with crosshairs .. This is normal.

As I  said previously when you click and hold the mouse key down and drag to where you want to stop,  it shows the selected image BEFORE you release the key which actually captures it.
You will NOT see the dashed selection lines until you press, hold and drag the mouse key..

The cross hairs do not appear. They used just fine for several years. But it stopped some weeks ago. No cross hairs appear anymore

Can you click and drag to create a selection?
Sounds like a job for support.

You mentioned worked fine for "Several years"What version of SnagIt are you using?

Regardless of what version of SnagIt your running a Repair install could fix it.
It's less intrusive and faster than a reinstall. And is basically the same thing, without resetting your personal preferences. It's the programs way of correcting itself without uninstalling.

Here's what a repair install looks like for SnagIt 11.
It's run very much the same way for any version.

Jason, I can make a selection but it is a blind selection until I release the cursor. I’ll try theRepair, then call Support. Thanks Joe and Jason

Try to repair your installation as Joe suggested and then reboot your computer and see if it fixed it.
