snagit cut button missing

I follow the procedure to mark the area of a video to cut out, but no cut button appears, which is what I see happening with the online tutorial. This makes it impossible to cut out the selected area.

Hi kwest,
I'm sorry you are having trouble.

What version of Snagit are you using? Does your version match up with the version given in the online tutorial?

Hello,

Yes, there is a limited amount of video editing you can do in Snagit.

When you create your video, and make a selection by dragging either end point, you do not see the cut tool as seen in the image below?

If not, can you please give us a bit more description of what you are or are not seeing on your screen?
Or add a screenshot here in this post?

It's a bit difficult to help without some more information from you so feel free to elaborate, okay?

Thanks!

Kelly

exactly, the cut tool does not appear after making a selection on the timeline. So it is impossible to trim the selection.

Hi,
Well that certainly is not expected behavior!

Have you by any chance rebooted your computer since you have installed and started using Snagit?

If not,  could you please do that and see if it clears this up?

Okay.. without actually having a screenshot of what is showing on your screen, I'm out of options for you on this situation.

I'm from Spain and in my case is the same: I cant see the cut button. I send You a video capture. I have tried two versions:  12.3.2 Build 2909  and  12.4.1 Build 3036.

Thank you very much.

Jaume,

I'm just a user of the SnagIt. I saw your question yesterday and had no idea what to think.

Are you using a monitor that has a resolution that exceeds 1920 x 1080?

I know the program has had issues displaying correctly on high resolution monitors in the past.
"Certain things would not display correctly and would be misaligned"
I'm not saying that's the issue. It's a shot in the dark.
If you randomly click around the area where the cut icon should appear. Can you get it to cut the footage?

See this link. https://feedback.techsmith.com/techsmith/topics/snagit-and-problems-capturing-high-dpi-displays-moni...

This is problem I am referring to.
2. Many elements of the UI in Snagit/Camtasia, though still functional, are tiny or not scaled/positioned correctly on higher DPI screens. We are currently working on substantially improving this. If there is a specific screen that is NOT functional with a high DPI screen, let us know via the survey link below.

I know this might not help much. But I wanted to respond.

Regards, Joe
