SnagIt Editor: Disable auto open all pictures in folder

Is it possible to disable the Editor opening all pictures from the capture folder when I launch it?

When I launch the SnagIt Editor it spends an enormous amount of time opening every single picture in my capture folder. I am on a Mac and typically launch the Editor by right-clicking on a file and say Open With, SnagIt.App.

I try and clean out my capture folder on a regular basis just because of this problem but figure there should be a way to disable it.

Hi,

There isn't currently any way to disable autosave. However when Snagit launches, we aren't loading every capture so I'm not sure clearing out the folder will speed things up very much unless you're opening the library view. Either way, our latest update (2018.2.0) has some noticeable performance improvements when launching and loading the library.

Autosave is great, it is the auto-open-everything that is frustrating.  It is happening for me too. Every time I capture to editor, the editor launches opens a ton of captures and then eventually gets to the one I just did so I can edit it.  This is a new install/version on a different computer. I never had this problem on my old computer / install.  Is it a new "feature"?  Mac specific?

Hi,

This is how the mac version has operated since version 1, however it is something we would like to look into changing.

The library only opens if there's nothing in the tray, so as long as you leave at least 1 open item in your tray before exiting Snagit, the library should not open.

The tray was the key; thank you!!!!  Toying with what's in the tray has made all the difference.

Very interesting. I have been using Snagit Mac since May 2011. At least, that is the date of the oldest item in the Snagit library. Neither person above defines the actual quantity in their library.

e.g., Is "a ton" like 1,000 items or 10,000 items? Currently, I have slightly over 2,000 items in this library on a six year old iMac running Mojave...  and I have zero experience with encountering any lag in getting right to the image.

So, if one of the persons above have 10,000 or 20,000 or more, could this be a function of the overall size of the library? Or do these folks have the library on a shared server or an external HD or ....? Or...? Before changing what is working for most users, some discovery along this line should be done.

Nowhere near those numbers since this is a relatively new install ... only at ~200....  But, when capture to editor, each one visibly flashes in editor before getting to the new capture to edit so it still takes a very noticeable amount of time watching it and seems like a ridiculous scenario having been able to previously have the editor just open immediately to my new capture.  2018 Macbook Pro, plenty of resources.  If there's no way to stop it though ... guess I'll have to have two capture folders .. the real one, and one I periodically move everything into.
