Snagit Editor Does Not Copy To Clipboard First Time

Copying an image to the clipboard using Editor doesn't work the first time. I have to switch to another application, back to Editor, copy again, and then the image is pastable in another application.

Just updated to 13.1.3 (32 Bit) (Build 7993) - May 12 2017.

This is not new. It's been a problem for a number of months.

You can give these a try...

Clear the Windows Clipboard Contents:

Open Windows Run command screen. Usually pressing the Windows logo key + R key will do so.

Type the following in the Open field:

cmd /c“echo off | clip”

include the quotation mark before echo and after clip
include one space between "cmd" and "/" but nowhere else

Click the OK button

*** If you prefer to save this command, you can create a desktop shortcut. Just right-click on any  unused space on the desktop and select New > Shortcut. Type cmd /c “echo off | clip” into the location box.

Click Next, name the shortcut and Finish

Another possibility  (I don't know your work flow):

If you leave many applications and/or background processes running (especially multiple different browsers,  such as Chrome, Firefox and IE, and multiple MS Office programs - such as Outlook, Excel, and Word):

Close them one-at-a-time (to free up working memory), starting with Outlook or the app or process showing the highest memory usage in the Windows Task Manager.

Hope you don't have to do possibility:

Do a Fresh reinstall of Snagit with the the most up to date version.

None of the above are solutions. This has been reported before by others--I just could not find those threads today after the update. This is a bug in Snaggit. I am running it on three different machines, one of which was recently rebuilt from the ground up, and the problem is identical on all machines and all installations. The problem has existed for months and across many reboots, cleanings, and re-installations.

Bummer !!

Just thought I would throw some possible, maybe fixes out there.

If you already haven't contacted support I'd give that a shot.

Hope you get it figured out.

We will look into this again. Apologies for the inconvenience here. I'll reach out if we have any questions about your specific setup/steps. But it's pretty clear what is wrong as far as I can tell right now.

my problem turned out to be the side control (the one that you can take out from the side of the screen)

those controls didn't agree with anything else, they were set to open editor automatically and not to copy to clipped board.

they override anything else, and those settings will supercede anything else you tell the program to do.

it now works swimmingly.

but not thanks to tech support.

all the best

Thank you so much! Thanks for the support but definitely better than what support they offered. I should pay you for the support than them.
