Snagit freezes when I try to Save an edited video clip capture

I am using Snagit 2020 on Windows 10.
When I capture a portion of an online video with Snagit and then edit out a part of the clip that I don't want to save, (if for example I cut out the first few seconds of the video), and then hit "Save" button, everything goes to hell. Snagit produces a message to the effect that it is now saving the clip, but nothing happens. If I wait for process of saving to finish, time passes but there is no change. If and when I get tired of waiting and try to end the process I find that my PC is frozen. Hitting the "escape" key on my keyboard doesn't accomplish anything. Ultimately I have to pull the plug from the wall, re-plug in, and then reboot my machine.

Oddly though, Snagit saves my unedited video clip captures just fine.

Snagit still captures and saves still images / screenshots just fine.

My "Snagit 2020" is a new install, a first for my PC. Everything worked great for two weeks or so, and then this disaster occurred out of the blue.
