I have the same issue with MACOS Sierra on a 13" MACBOOK Pro and requested help with this a month ago with no contact from Techsmith.

Hey folks,

It looks like our usage data collection is causing most of the issues, so it you turn it off things should improve a bunch.

after turning it off, you'll want to quit snagit and quit the snagit helper, then launch snagit again. We will let you know when the fix is available and it's safe to turn that back on.

Hi,

We just released version 4.1.3 today which should fix the high energy use from the Snagit Helper.

Snagit 4.1.7, SnagitHelper was using 5.9 GB of RAM, while Snagit was using 1.4GB. Performance is dismal. MacBook Pro running High Sierra

Yikes, I have not seen numbers that high. Were you taking lots of image captures, video captures, or did this just build up over time?

Mac OSX Sierra 10.12.3 MacBook Pro
Snagit 4.1.7 consuming 259 MB RAM
Snagit Helper 351 MB RAM

I use Snagit a LOT, working fine.
