Hello. I am trying to figure out how to create an .swf flash image with several links, that does not popup when clicking the hotspots. It seems its only possible to make these flash images with popup links, and not _self links.

Is there anyway that i can make links on the image, that does NOT popup but just go there from current window?

Hmmm, I'm not seeing any way to make it happen. Unfortunately nothing is exposed in the UI that seems to allow controlling it. :(

Likely you need to use a different tool to accomplish it.

Hi, do u have any other tool that might do this? I know there are "imagemaps" where u get a HTML code to insert on site, but i'd prefer a file like a .swf or equal.

HOWEVER... i tried opening the .swf from Snagit with notepad.. there are the "ahref=" thing in the "code", i tried adding the correct target="_self" but it made the entire .swf unfunctional.

can anyone change the "code" of the .swf and add target="_self" without "breaking" the .swf? i cant.

lastly, snagit should just add a tickbox that says "open link in popup yes/no"..

Hello again

I have to say that I agree with you that it would have been great if SnagIt offered that option.

I believe the SWF format is a compiled format. The Adobe Flash player is typically used to understand and present a SWF.

Certainly you might look at something like Adobe Flash for creating these, but that seems a bit of overkill. Not only from the aspect of the price (although, the Creative Cloud and monthly pricing offers better options than purchasing apps outright). But also the learning curve involved. I've sat through two different three day Flash classes facilitated by two different instructors. I'm not a dumb guy (though some would likely take issue with that statement. LOL) But I never did "get" the whole Flash thing.

There is another tool I'm aware of called "Swish".

Swish does a lot of what Flash does for a fraction of the price.

Another Adobe product that might be suitable for something like this is Adobe Captivate. But it's another tool with a high price tag. They do offer a monthly plan for that as well.

And lastly, if what you are wanting is sort of a once in a blue moon kind of deal, you could contract with someone to create what you want. For example, I'd be happy to toss something together for you at no charge to see if you like the way it works out. Then if you want more stuff or modifications down the road, we could negotiate a small fee.

Note that I'm not here to try and steer you that direction, just offering help if I can. If that sounds like an option you would want to pursue, send me a private message to rickstone1975 (at) gmail (dot) com.

Hopefully something here either helped directly or sparked an idea that may!

Cheers... Rick :)
