Snagit keeps flickering old image

I'm using the latest version of Snagit, and every time I open up an image in Snagit Editor, it keeps flickering an old picture that I've worked with like yesterday. Sometimes, I'll select a new image for editing and the old one shows the entire time (without flickering).

Guessing I'm not the first person to experience this issue. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Alton,

Can you tell me when and where you see the flickering?
For example, is it right after the capture is put into Editor you see a flicker on the SAME canvas as the new image?

I'm not sure what is happening, but would like to know the sequence of events to try and get to the root of things.

In the meantime, can you right-click on the Tray's scroll bar control on the very right side and choose Close All. Then, see if that stops the flicker issue.

Hey there!

Yep. The minute I right click an image -> open with snagit editor, I see the old image in there (even though it's not in the tray at the bottom) for about 2 seconds and then the new one that I just opened up appears. Other times, I may have 2 pictures at the bottom in the tray, and when I swap between them, the old one appears (through some flickering), and then it swaps.

I find a similar issue.  My experience is an earlier image won't display in the image editing area after it has been selected from the tray area below the editing area.  It tries to display it for an instant, but that display fails.

Instead, the last image edited is the image that is displayed.  This is unsettling when an attempt to save the previous image is needed.  Clicking on the image wanted, and clicking on the image in the tray area being displayed shows the same image.

However, “Sharing -> Word” sends the selected image to Word, instead of the displayed image.

This is much worse now than it had been.  Previously, clicking on other images in the tray area below the image editing area would make it stop.  Yesterday, nothing I tried other than exiting SnagIt and restarting it would clear the problem.

Is there a solution that will make the wanted image to display, instead of what appears to be stuck in SnagIt’s memory?

I have a similar but different problem.

I used SnagIt 10.0.1 to edit a .jpg on my computer, and have since captured other images.  Now whenever I open the Snagit Editor, the .jpg pops up as the most recent capture.  Even if I "Close All", the next time I open SnagIt Editor the .jpg opens.   If I delete the .jpg from within the editor, "Delete this file (move to the Recycle Bin)", the next time I open the SnagIt Editor I get this error dialog:  "SnagIt Editor cannot read this file.  The file type is not currently supported or the file is invalid."   To get the error message to go away, I can restore the .jpg on my hard drive (from backup), but then I'm back in the original cycle where this .jpg appears as the active document anytime I open SnagIt Editor.

In the past I have had issues like this when using the Snagit Editor to modify images that I didn't capture with SnagIt.  The symptom is that these images become the active image when the SnagIt Editor opens.  The resolution in the past has been to delete the images and the problem would go away.  This time it is generating an error.

Is there a way to "repair" the SnagIt memory of what the last active document was?
