I run a game called Civilization V. If I leave the SnagIt processes running when I start the game SnagIt will slowly consume all available memory on my 16gig memory I7-4790 system. Eventually I get warnings from windows. The game is a DX11 game. The game will also die. When the game dies I open Task Manager and find SnagIt processes consuming over 13gig of memory. Before I start the game SnagIt is consuming about 300 meg. The only thing I have found that works is to open task manager before starting the game and killing the SnagIt process tree.

Version 18.2.1 update should fix it.
Check if you are on that version and if not than do the update and it should fix the leak.
If it doesn't than you should contact support.

Same issue (although I am not playing Civ V). When I come back to my machine after SnagIt has been left running overnight, I get a ton of low memory/resource warnings and have to shut down apps. Task Manager reveals that overnight SnagIt has tripled or quadrupled in memory use during system idle.

I too am on the latest release. This is on a Windows 7 system (old OS due to corporate requirements) with all latest updates. Reading back through comments, this appears to be a longstanding issue.

The latest update pushed with a fix is 2018.2.1
By your screenshot you are on 2018.2.0
You can get the latest update here if it's not showing in the check for updates through Snagit.

Post back if the update to 2018.2.1 worked.
I fixed the memory leak issue with a registry tweak that Techsmith posted prior to the 2018.2.1 update. They have removed the post since the update release.

I had the same memory leak issue and the same "18.2.0 version" that did not update either. I manually updated to 18.2.1 per your instructions; the issue has been resolved - thank you, Dubie! Have a wonderful day!

Yes. I have 2018.2.1 now. Just a small point: when doing a check for upgrades from 2018.2.0 it returns "you have the latest version". Luckily I found another thread about the memory leak being a problem and it lead me to the link you posted and said that the memory leak is a known problem and 2018.2.1 fixed the memory leak.
Thanks.

I updated to 18.2.1 and am no longer seeing the leak (hooray!). I hope the issue requiring manual update gets fixed soon because I imagine lots of others are going to have this issue.
