SnagIt Notes for SnagIt 2018?

Just installed SnagIt 2018 and find that the SnagIt Notes output no longer seems to be available. This is the output I use the most. Are there any plans to make SnagIt Notes available for SnagIt 2018?

Sehr geehrtes Support-Team, bitte um Rückmeldung!

Gibt es bereits eine Liste mit Funktionen, die durch Upgrades im Laufe der Zeit nicht mehr vorhanden sind?

Will Snagit team release a new version of Snagit Notes that works with 2018 version?

HOPEFULLY YOU ARE COMING OUT WITH SNAGITNOTES.tscplugin FOR SNAGIT 2018. I LIKE THE NEW VERSION OF SNAGIT BUT FOR MY QUICK REFERENCE, FAST COPY TO SNAGITNOTES, AND ON TOP OF WINDOWS VIEWING THAT I DO IN SNAGITNOTES, NOTHING COMES CLOSE.
PLEASE BRING BACK SNAGITNOTES CAPABILITY TO SNAGIT 2018.

Wow, my ears hurt. Just kidding. Seemed loud at first. I feel your frustration when they update and break something.

Dear God make it so... SnagItNotes is about the handiest little tool in the PC universe. Sorry, without it I'll have to downgrade back to Snagit 13.

I contacted Techsmith and they told me they removed Snagit Notes from Snagit 2018.  I got a refund for Snagit 2018.  I use Snagit Notes every day so had to go back to the old version.  Lifelong Snagit customer - disappointed.

I am not removing Snagit 2018, but Techsmith has removed SnagitNotes add-in. When I do a capture of screen data, I need to edit and display for reference on a ie: Postit Note that stays on top of other windows. Then I can view reference note (capture) for my project. It is not practical to have 3 or more windows open at a time.

So I installed Stickies, setup a preset in Snagit to share with Stickies, but the output sent to Stickies is gibberish... as though a coded file were opened using a text editor. Anything you can suggest to force Stickies to see this as an image file?

1.i capture anything and everything in Snagit.
2 I select from Snagit Editor (ie; [ ] or {ctrl a} for all to copy selection
3 Open Stickies and insert {ctrl v} - No name needed
4 Stickies will reshape to inserted image or text
5  Click top left border to keep on top of windows
Never had a problem with any type of copy & paste. Text, graphics, or complex.
Not as easy as SnagitNotes, but has several benefits with Stickies Manager

@Idoperu - okay, that I can get to work. But with Snagit Notes only step 1 & 2 needed to be done... the rest was automatic. If I find a way to get Stickies to work like Snagit Notes I'll post here.

@Idoperu - thanks for your Stickies suggestion. I've installed it and had a play around with it and it seems like quite a reasonable alternative to SnagIt Notes. I've set up a hot key in Stickes so that I can take a screenshot directly to Stickies without involving SnagIt at all.
Not quite as convenient as SnagIt Notes if I then decide I want to edit the screen capture in the SnagIt editor. I have to Ctrl+C, then open the Snagit editor, then paste into the Snagit editor. A few extra mouse clicks than just clicking the 'Edit in SnagIt' button in SnagIt notes. But not a huge problem.

Ok guys here is the way to get stickies to work exactly like Snagit Notes did :)

1. Download stickies cmd from stickies website here
2. Copy apicmd.exe to stickies folder -> C:\Program Files(x86)\Stickies\
3. Once done open Snagit Editor, with any image and click SHARE -> PROGRAM -> MANAGE -> +
Then add the following:

4. Once completed. Restart the PC and when you do "Stickies" (or whatever name you used) will popup in  share in Snagit Capture like this:

5. Same output as snagit notes :)

Have Fun.

I need some help... dammit.

@UWK-87 thank you for getting me this far. I did everything you described and it works as SnagitNotes, except Stickies will create a note with contents that appear to be the coding of an image in a text file.

I've been thru Stickies options and selected "New stickies are image stickies". I've even changed the Snagit Program settings to "do new sticky_paste_image" - all to no avail. Here's an screenshot of what I'm getting:

Any help is appreciated... so close.

I should also note - when running apicmd.exe in a command prompt window, it generated an image sticky (of course, using do new imagesticky). But when running it thru Snagit it generates a text sticky. You can tell by the shape of the cursor when hovering over the sticky.

hmm. Try one more thing. Exit Snagit, SnagitEditor using Task Manager. Then Run Snagit as Administrator. Then try to create a sticky note.

Tried a number of things with mixed results.

First, running Snagit as admin did not affect anything - still getting the garbled results.

Next I uninstalled and reinstalled both Snagit and Stickies. This also didn't appear to change anything, however when playing around with the Snagit Sharing functionality I noticed that if I created a screen capture and had it open in Snagit Editor, and then shared it with Stickies it would work. It produced a sticky of whatever image was in Editor.

So what I'm trying to do, and I didn't mention it up to now because I didn't think it mattered, is use a hotkey to call a preset that captures and shares with Stickies. That's the Holy Grail - and it appears to have something to do with the preset.

The next thing I'm going to try is deleting the existing preset and recreating from scratch. Fingers crossed this will do the trick, but it got busy at work and I didn't have enough time to try this yet... I'll report back my results.

Joy of joys - it works!!!

So in looking back all I needed to do (along with the apicmd.exe setup that you shared) was recreate the presets. Which as I remember, was also recommended when upgrading from an earlier version of Snagit.

The upshot of all of this is I've explored Stickies far beyond what I normally would have, and found out that it also has a screen capture function. If Snagit becomes too expensive or Stickies improves it's markup capabilities, at least I know there are options.

Thanks for your help UWK - if you hadn't stuck with it I might not have either.
