Snagit on Mac - Why no "Repeat Last Capture" feature, after so many people requesting it?

This conversation has been merged. Please reference the main conversation: How to capture exactly the same region again on Snagit for Mac

The repeat last capture feature has been in the Windows product since 1996, and I used it all the time - it's a huge time and headache saver as I do region captures 90% of the time. But now I'm on a Mac (let's face it, many people have made the switch or are making it, for better or worse - worse in this case).

I'm just curious why the feature hasn't made it to the Mac version after so many years, and so many people are asking about it. I would just like some honest explanation from Techsmith. After searching on the internet, it doesn't look like there is any tool out there on the Mac to repeat the last region screen capture - perhaps there is a low-level OS issue blocking this feature from being possible?

Techsmith please let us in on this mystery....

Yes! Repeat last capture is incredibly useful. I now have a virtual machine on my Mac specifically so I can use RLC! Insane. Appears Camtasia doesn't really take its Mac products very seriously - the Studio version for Mac is also extremely disappointing. There's significantly reduced functionality, and it spits out ridiculously large video files. Waste of time.

Absolutely want this on the Mac -- it was the reason I purchased Snagit on the Mac, only to learn that it wasn't there!

If I would have known this I would not have purchased.  Based on my quick review does not look like TechSmith really cares what Mac users need.  Should advertise as Window only SW.

Anyone at TechSmith listening?????????????

This reply was created from a merged topic originally titled Mac Snagit repeated screen capture.

This facility is great on the PC but seems to be missing on the Mac version?

This is the most useful and time-saving feature in Snagit on Windows in my opinion. Anyone who uses it regularly probably agrees. Not sure why it hasn't been implemented yet on the Mac side, but apparently I'm told it's in their backlog, and if they're going to follow their new process for deciding on which features to implement next, I wouldn't be surprised if this one finally makes it in (in which case *fist pump*)

I've never seen this function as I'm a mac only user, but what does it do?

When I hit record, the dialog comes up with my most recent settings, and if I selected a region, it even has that region still selected. (this is in camtasia mac 3)

Does the feature you describe just avoid having the dialog come up?

oh wait, my bad, this was for Snagit, not camtasia!

SLT - UXd, I'm checking my windows version and I don't see 'repeat last capture' there either - where are you all seeing this 'repeat last capture' at in the windows version?

Hi Jack!

You can set the hotkeys in Snagit 13 (Windows) under the Capture Preferences.

Hi and thanks for submitting your idea/feature request!

As outlined in our New Community Processes post, feature requests are open to voting up through the first, where we will then tally the votes and present the findings to our product teams. To ensure we have the most accurate data, on the 1st of the month we will be locking the threads that were listed in the Feature Request Round-up that was posted on the 15th. Once we have reviewed the submitted feature requests, our product team(s) may respond to the request, and if that is the case then that thread will then be unlocked for further discussion.

In the event that your idea is not selected for a response feel free to resubmit the idea and share it with your colleagues to garner as much exposure as possible!

Thank you again for your idea and we look forward to hearing more from you!

Robert,

Aboout capturing the same region again on a MAC
It is all good and nice that you explain the Feature Request Procedure, but this is one of the top requests for years, so what we would like to know is if it is brought up t to the product teams. Have they responded to it. Will it be incorporated in the MAC version or not and if so when we could expect that to happen. I think after years of requests and waiting we deserve at least a little more clarity.

Thank you.

This feature really is a great idea. It provides the functionality of a preset without having to do a preset.
