Snagit - Properties side bar toggle - now is a pain!

As a long time user of Snagit I became used to having the Properties/Effects side bar hide/show when I clicked the toggle buttons. Since you changed this, I now have to go to the View menu to turn it off. From a user experience pov, I now need to cursor to the menu, click, acquire the "Side bar" option in a long list, and then click again, just to turn it off.

My suggestion is simple and commonly used - a Close button at top right of the bar (actually more accurately called a pane) - a simple X icon. So to open, click Effects or Properties, to close, a click on the X.

If you decide to implement a hot key (or shortcut key) to do this, please use something that requires use of the left hand part of the keyboard so that I don't have to leave my mouse to do it.

I agree with this comment.   When I open the SnagIt editor, sometimes the side bar takes up too much of the screen area.   Having to go to View- Side Bar to toggle it on or off is inconvenient.  Can't you just put a slider marker (push it off to the right), or restore so you don't have to keep going to the menu bar each time?

Yep, this seems to be one of those mission creep features. One that got tossed by the wayside.
I understand that you have to add features . Change things around in hopes to charge people for newer versions.
Unfortunately, tossing out functionality with the bathwater shouldn't be part of the process.
