Snagit start time is very long

  • Problem
  • Updated 1 month ago
Reproduce
1. Configure task that will copy screenshots to a clipboard
2. Do 10-15 screenshots
3. Run Snagit Editor

Result
While recent images are loading app UI is freezing (we need to wait until all recent images are loaded and this usually takes a few seconds)

Expected result
Recent should be able to be retrieved instantly from disk, so this should not affect app start time and doe not freeze the UI.

This seems to happen to me when I have extremely large images in my Recents tray.

For me, the fix was to clear the Recents tray of all the images.

If you do this, they aren't permanently gone unless you choose to actually Delete them. They will still be in the Library.

Cheers... Rick :)

Agree, but this is still a bypass that have to be repeated once a while, , not a real solution

Hi,

The delay you're seeing is likely caused by converting the captures into editable images. We're working on an update that will eliminate this conversion step which should make this much faster. Stay tuned :)

We just released Snagit 2020 today, with some great new features, one of which is we were able to eliminate this conversion step after taking captures! Loading lots of captures should be much faster, and you can download the free trial and see for yourself!
