SnagIt v12 "...program requires a newer version of Windows"

SnagIt v12 ...just purchased SnagIt, but I get "program requires a newer version of Windows; the OS on my laptop on Vista. 



How do I get the appropriate version for my OS w/o buying another version?

I was introduced to SnagIt at work and really enjoy using it.

I got the same error when I tried to install the free trial (version 12.4) on my Vista 64-bit PC.

Seeing that my reply to a 3-month-old posting is the first, I might suspect that even Snagit staff do not support this "community."

Hi Janice,
We dropped support for Windows XP and Windows Vista with Snagit 12.

The last version that worked on those versions of Windows was Snagit 11.4.3. You can download any of the older versions from this page: https://www.techsmith.com/download/oldversions.asp

Your Snagit 12 key will unlock any previous version of Snagit.

i bought Snag It last year and have been running Win 10 since get; but it tells me I need Win 7 or higher. Do I just need to download an older version? FoxPro recently did an update, (which usually screws things up), are their updates fouling the waters?

Snagit 12 should work fine on Windows 10. You might want to double check and make sure you're running the latest release. You can update by launching Snagit and going to Help > Check for Upgrade. If you're already current, or that doesn't solve your problem, please open a ticket with our Technical Support at https://support.techsmith.com

I just downloaded SnagIt 12 and am getting the same error message and it will not load the new software.  Now what?  Refund my charge or?  I am running 64 bit windows 7 and your site says that will work fine.

Also, is there any resolution to the issue when you capture a number of pages such as 8 it only prints the first one 8 times?  Frustrating to have to print to Adobe to print things.

It sound like what you ran into was a bug and not because of your OS (Windows 7 is supported).

For this issue and your printing problem, you'd be best served by our Technical Support. You can open a ticket with them at https://support.techsmith.com. We're generally able to respond within one business day (unlike this feedback site).

What version of SnagIt are you attempting to install and what version of Windows do you have?
