Your software defaults to "Show me help and TechSmith promotions". This is a violation of the EU GDPR. You MUST get our ACTIVE and expressed permission to send us any emails. You are forbidden to have your program default to sending us unsolicited emails. I just installed v. 2.3, and it still defaults to this choice. Please change this.

I was toying with not replying to this...but seeing as there are now 2 MeToo's, let's tackle it.

Tick boxes for consent relating to GDPR have to do with email communications and/or other direct contact methods from companies pertaining to UK/EU residents.

The box you refer to is related to showing tips and advice WITHIN the app itself.

No personally identifiable information is sent from the app to achieve this.

Bottom line...has nothing to do with GDPR.

I had the same inclination. I even started to reply to it then decided against it. I'm glad that you did.

I don't know what the issue is with the setting defaulting back to "Show me help and TechSmith promotions" which is what I assume is your issue. The setting I have chosen, "Only show me help notifications" remains selected between sessions.

If you want to stop emails you will need to click on the link at the bottom of one you receive. See attached image from the email I received when you put up your post.

Hi Heather, sorry for any confusion caused by the verbiage there. The setting in Snagit does not refer to email but only to in-product messages delivered to clients of TechSmith who are using the software.
