Snagit 11.2 editor does not work at all! Help!

I received the email today to upgrade from Snagit 11 to 11.2. I installed it and the installation appears to be fine but snagit editor does not run at all and when i take a print screen the image disappears into cyberspace instead of neatly popping up in Snagit Editor. How can i uninstall and go back to one that worked?

I'm still getting intermittent crashes since the upgrade and the patched version install, so I'm deleting it and going back to an earlier version.

Frank, are you seeing the crashes randomly? Are you doing something specific when they happen?

I'm getting tired of this.

I've supplied you with full details and 'dump logs', DxDiag.txt and SnagDiag.txt files and other stuff on my open support ticket, but no one has got back to me with any answers.

So I've uninstalled.

Installed the fix, did not help at all. Same problem Editor crashes within 2-3 screen captures or even if I am just working in editor and not even trying to capture a screen

I just downloaded and installed the program. Then I exited the program. Now I cannot get the snagit recording window to open again, only the editor. What to do?

Hey there,

How are you launching snagit? From a shortcut, the start menu, the program folder? Is it running in your task manager?

For the Windows error of the color scheme changing to "basic" mode, right click on your Snagit shortcut, select Properties, then Compatibility tab, then checkoff "disable desktop composition" The the basic theme will be invoked just while Snagit runs

Answer this: Why would anyone want to change to basic windows color scheme when they want to do a screen capture? Do you think that maybe we have set the colors the way WE want them before capturing part of the screen? Or worse yet, might you even consider that a lot of software STOPS WORKING when you change the color scheme right in the middle of its operation?

Instead, you have decided for your customers that these things aren't important anymore, and therefore your customers say goodbye and look for other screen capture software.

The common theme in recent releases of SnagIt and Camtasia is what we used to call paternalistic software design.

THEY know better how to do things, but impossibly, you can't depart far from their controlling vision.

We still have to use Camtasia 7 for the features removed in 8.

SnagIt 11 is killing me. Even the so-called patched version. I can't do anything in the editor without it freezing up for 30 seconds at a stretch.

I'd find an alternative, but this is a multi-user license, so I'm sort of stuck with what my employer purchases. Hopefully, the license lets me go back to v10.

I'm still having the same problem. But after numerous to-ing and fro-ing with data logs etc. everyone's given up on it.

So I'm stuck with a paid version of a product that Techsmith has no idea how to fix and I'm tired of complaining about.

Is there an Upgrader Version to get to 11.1.0.102 from .101 or are we stuck with unnstall/reinstall for 11.1.0.102. FYI this is a licensed version.

I am having the same problem.. windows 7 here.. loyal customer for many years. loved the program.. and now paid for an upgrade, uninstalled 9 and installed 11.. now NOTHING.. it wont start period.

Really frustrated now with this - thinking of just going back to 9.

Hi,

Updated new version 11.2.0 build 102 worked for some time but lately editor as well as snagit crash to often. I am working on a XP machine. I uninstalled it and with the adjusted DEP setting 11.1.0 build 248 works fine untill now. Hope you can fix the problem.

Sorry to leave SnagIt, I did enjoy using it when it was stable.

Hey William,

What printers do you have hooked up to your computer? Is there anything out of the ordinary there?

Have you tried reverting back to 11.0 at all to see if that fixes it? You can find 11.0 here: http://download.techsmith.com/snagit/...

Try my fix... shut down F.lux (flux) if your running it to control screen brightness.

got the same issue here. v11 crashes after you take an image. tryed everthing what they told me(v10,v9, patches etc) but issue is still the same.

I think it something to do with the graphic card because when you disable one of the cards they issue is gone but this isn't a solution because user needs mutli monitors.

Anybody got idea"s ?

I bought Snagit 11 and Camstasia yesterday. I downloaded the Stamps accessories because none of them showed up in the Editor. Neither it nor the Editor will start up now. I tried to use the http://bit.ly/YKxxKm and http://bit.ly/14cjx3R fixes. However neither of them would start because both said there was an Internal Error 2753 snagltpl.exe and wouldn't run.

I am really at a loss as to what to do.

11.2 and the patch still has not fixed the problem. I have reinstalled 10 and is stable and works. Quite disappointed with Snagit
