QuickStyles should be at the top of the list of styles

why is it that in Snagit editor, the "quick style" borders are not at the top of the choices, instead of the bottom?? Every time I want my custom "quick style" I have to scroll to the bottom of all the other standard choices, which I do not use.

Hello Francis,

I agree with you, and I think you'll find others as well.

Please allow me to change this into a feature request so the team can better track it and we'll see others vote it up and chime in.

Thanks for taking the time to post!

Sincerely,
Mike Curtis

So, this issue was raised about 2 years ago but there is still no solution. We have a team here that uses Snagit frequently enough that this issue comes up and it would be great to have the ability to not only reorder the Quick Styles but to also delete the default styles.

Two years is a long time... does it help to know we have over ten users just at my location that would like this changed who have not commented? At this time (including others who logged in this forum) that's 27 people who see this as valuable.

You should be able to rearrange the order of the quick styles in whatever order you want them.

Having to click everytime to get past the system supplied styles to your favorites is cumbersome and inefficient.

Including me in this one as well. Quick styles are things you like and use often. A user should be able to get to quickly instead of having to search for them.

Wow! Just the question I wanted to ask. Why don't the styles I create and add to Quick Styles stay at the top of the style list as I use them frequently. I'd like to vote for giving users the option to display Quick Styles above system defined styles.

Everybody who agrees should go push that button in the first post. You don't even need to post just click the button so TechSmith gets a number.

Hi,

I'm using SnagIt 11 and I just saw this tip:

Customizing Tools using Quick Styles
http://www.techsmith.com/tutorial-sna...

Now if I want to access my newly created Quick Style I have to scroll past the 'default' Styles before I can click this newly created Quick Style.

Is there a way to make my created Quick Style the default style ?

Many thnx

Remember Quick Styles row in Snagit Editor!.

In Snagit Editor, I only always use the Quick Styles section in the Image Style popup instead of the factory-made Image Styles. So it is annoying having always to click to bring up the Quick Styles. So please make the program remember the last used section and display the Quick Styles row after program start if I have used one of the Quick Styles the last time.

This seems to be a minor issue, but in a creative workflow every unnecessary click creates an annoying feeling which disturbs the creative process. And it is this small little things that make working with a specific program joyful and productive.

Snagit: Can I reorder / rearrange the arrow styles in the style gallery?.

When I select the Arrow tool, by default the Styles group in the ribbon displays the first six arrow styles of the 12 "Common Arrows".

In order to access styles I've saves as Quick Styles, I have to open the Style Gallery. Since I use the same saved quick styles over and over, is there some way I can move my saved styles into the top row so that I can select it directly from the ribbon?

If I right-click a common arrow, I get a menu that says "Remove from Quick Styles", but it is grayed out and non-functional.

Thanks, David

Create the ability to allow users to rearrange/remove styles in Snagit.

I love Snag-it and use it a lot. I recently upgraded to the newest version. I love that I am now able to define my own frequently used image styles, arrow styles, text styles, etc by creating and saving Quick Styles.

To make this a super useful feature, I request that you enable users to completely remove (and/or rearrange or hide) your pre-defined styles. The reason is, that my personal defined styles are placed LAST in the pop-up window. This means I always must navigate past your styles (which I frankly will never use) and must click 3 times to use one of my own styles that I use constantly.

I would love to be able to position MY favorite styles at the very TOP of the lists so they are always in view and instantly available. Please please please...

Please allow for faster access to adjusted Quick Styles.

Please let me control the size of Torn Edges somehow. Yes - I know I can apply any adjusted style to "Quick Styles", but that is too many clicks away. I also know that I can create my own style which auto-torn edges at the end. Also a little bit too cumbersome when I forget to select the normal All-in-One style for normal captures.

My absolute favorite would be if I could assign a keyboard short-cut my Quick Style, so at will can choose whether or not to apply the torn edge. Another option would be if the adjusted Quick Style could appear as a separate icon in the top Quick Access Toolbar.

We agree - this would make a big difference in workflow in Snagit, and we would also like to see it implemented. However - what we're considering is a little bit different, and we'd like your thoughts.

What if, as an alternative to having quick styles in the drop down menus, your most commonly used features/tools were stored in a separate "Favorites" box that could be rearranged to your liking? Would this help you, or would it cause problems that we might not be considering?

Very good idea! As far as you mean that the "Favorites" box can be docked on any edge (you meant docking, right?) and the things in it accessed DIRECTLY (without having to make additional clicks to lift a curtain or similar crap) this would be very useful! The Favorites box also MUST be resizable so I wouldn't have to scroll (I HATE scrolling in a small fixed-size container!!).

Just even allowing access to drop it in the quick access toolbar would be enough for me. This is not an option I could find anywhere.

I'm not sure I'd like a Favorites box--I believe I'd rather see all my custom styles at the top of the gallery in which they belong. But the devil's in the details.  I'm still smarting from the loss of the directory view you ejected because of your workflow.  I have my own workflow and would like to see some way for all of us to get what we need.

Nup,
Just do this SIMPLE thing
Allow us to delete the default styles, and put user defined styles at the top,
How easy is that we have been asking for it for like 2 years and you guy's have finally noticed????
like you said Jason this would make a big difference in the workflow in Snagit
"Big" is an Understatement, I believe it would make a Critical difference in the workflow
Please Please Please this is the single reason I don't like Snagit over Jing
1, this little thing smashed my productivity to communicating to my team over Jing
2, it's the one reason I regret replacing Jing with Snagit
3, It;s the one thing that makes me feel paying for Snagit was a total downgrade
all you need to do is listen to us, not Be like Microsoft and try to do a windows 8.1
in fact having no easy access to User Defined Styles is the Jing to Snagit equivalent of removing the Start Button
Just Put User defined styles at the top and allow us to delete the default styles
its all you need to do
Oh my God it would become "Jinglike" on Steroids and we would all suddenly be recommending your product.
Insane idea hey
Looks like I'm going to have to pay for this no brainer fix that should have been there from Day 1
Sorry, Frustration getting you guy's to listen to us, Garry

Jeez, keep is simple is right!!! Why would you ever force the user in any UI to click thru forced defaults to get to their own custom settings. There are way too many extra clicks going on in new SnagIt version 12. Really bumming me out. I takes hundreds of screen shots per day. Every click reduction makes a HUGE difference in my workflow. YES PLEASE PUT MY SAVED STYLES AT THE TOP AND YOU CAN GET RID OF THE DEFAULT COMMON ONES or let me delete them.

Oh holy crap I am on version 11, Kcunneen do you mean it gets worst?
Default Styles, Gone and Snag it could Suddenly be one of those essential tools, till then, forget it, because it drives me mad every day, I really liked Jing, there was a flash of brilliance in that simplicity,
Imagine being able to tune Snagit down, so it became more Jinglike,, meditate to the words,Snag it then Jing, the the words them selfs seem to suggest how simple Jing was and how Snag it just became a major work flow obstacle, I would re-name the product, I would feel "Snag it" has bad undertones. Snag in Australian means a Barbecued  Sausage, there is a lot in a name.

I have given up on getting a better UI for this Torn Edges with other defaults than size = 4. I have therefore created an AutoHotKey script which I activate by clicking CTRL + ALT + T (T for Torn ...). It opens up the dialog box and sets the value for me ... Pretty quick and saves me for the annoying torn-size adjustment all day long :-)

I'm going to make this recent and fresh since the last post was 3 months ago and this has gone back as far as 2 years.

WE WANT TO BE ABLE TO CUSTOMIZE OUR STYLES BY PUTTING THE QUICKSTYLES ON THE RIBBON.

Now I don't know if this has been done yet with Version 12, which I upgraded to a few months back and DON'T LIKE compared to previous versions.  This is a case of a good app getting overworked in the wrong direction, IMHO.  But then, it may be that I am just too ignorant to know how to get this to work the way I like.

Every time I want to add a TEXT box to my pic, I have to select the drop down in Styles and then find my Quickstyle text.  The default shown at the top has too large a font size for my use.

Are we still waiting...hoping for this feature or has it been done and I simply am not aware of it?

There is a reason why we create QUICKSTYLES. We do so because we need them more than the default styles, which are just the starting points.  Why not put these default/base foundation styles in the dropdown and make the Quickstyles the ones that show on the ribbon?

I agree too, I use ShagIt  professionally for a couple of years now. And it's getting overworked.
Maybe you should do a survey with your users and decided then what the right direction for this tool is.

Keep up the work guys and girls !

I've been using SnagIt for many years for my business.  Was one of their beta testers for the earlier versions, up until Version 11.

It has been one of my most used tools.

But seriously,  I just don't get why they keep having to change it up so drastically.   It was really a darn good tool and really easy to use.

Now, it takes way more time to do what used to be quick.  That's not productive, but counter-productive.

If it weren't for the profiles I had to recently create using Version 12 to do my daily screen captures, I'd go back to an earlier version.

Hope they don't do to Camtasia what they did to SnagIt, because I've been using Camtasia for years also and don't want it monkey'd with.

In the old days, you could complain and get a fix very quickly. While they still say Snagit is one of their major products, they certainly don't act like it. I wasn't getting a satisfactory answer a few years ago for a very simple request ... until I emailed every person I could find in the company whether or not they were responsible for Snagit. I got my response by embarrassing them. Their email addresses were first letter of first name then a period then their last name then "@techsmith.com."
Good luck.

I just installed snagit 12 (used to work with 11) and completely agree with all the above.

It's not an improvement, and I will probably switch back one of these days.

The user interface takes more time and is less transparent and easy, and the quick styles are a pain in the ass. It only shows 3, I can't rearrange them and I always want other ones.

Why not put the user defined ones on top and show more then only three!!

Also; when you draw a quick style the UI switches to 'edit'. I have to click on 'tools' to change background color and border e.g. Why not show both things in the ribbon, there plenty of room!

I'm disappointed with this new version!

This reply was created from a merged topic originally titled Please allow custom color quick styles and ability to organize styles.

I would like my custom quick styles to default to the top of the styles box or have the ability to organize them to a way that suits my needs.

Also, please add quick styles for color fill. It's very time consuming to have to keep going to the color picker for the same color over and over again on large projects.

Pretty please with a cherry on top?

Thanks.

This reply was created from a merged topic originally titled Managing quick styles.

When I
create a new style that I frequently use I put it to Quick styles tool bar. It
is places at the end which is not ok. I created it because the styles already
created in the tool bar are not useable (I mean not useable for me as I do not
want to use them). To be able to use the one I have just added there I need to
scroll the styles in tool bar and select the one I have created. I would like
to see this one on top to avoid scrolling. I would also like to be able to
manage quick styles and remove that are not useable for me.
