I just installed the trial for Snagit for Mac 2.0 and feel like I've been RIPPED OFF by my old friends at TechSmith. You want me to cough up $24.95 for what? A copy of JING bundled into Snagit and some hokey enhancments to cut segments out of an image?

You still haven't added text capture (that you have had in Windows for years) and the download STAMP files button is insulting since it wants to download and install Windows .msi files and won't work on the MAC!

Guys, sorry for the negative post, but what the heck am I supposed to pay you $24.95 for? Looks like your accountant got loose and wanted some money.

Hi Bob,
I'm sorry you're disappointed in Release 2.0.

In this release we added instantly sharable video capture, new image and video outputs including Twitter, Facebook, Evernote, and YouTube and answered top requests from customers. Those requests included the Cutout tool, changing canvas color, color filters, canvas color, new stamps and callouts and more.

When downloading stamps, make sure you select the Mac Stamps tab:

With your upgrade, you also get an upgrade for both Snagit Release 11 on Windows and Snagit on Mac 2.

We continue to try to include the top requests from our customers as we work to bring the Windows and Mac version together. Thanks for letting us know that text capture is your top request.

Thank you,
Tiffany

Tiffany,

My big frustration using Snagit on both the PC and a Mac is the lack of feature/function compatibility between the two products.

My big gripe is the fact that features in Windows have not made it the MAC. I have no idea how many people use both machines, but it is certainly frustrating to see a great feature on one platform and not have it on the other.

I realize there are issues around the UI, but basic features just simply should be there.

Like I said, I've been using your product for about 10 years now and couldn't live without Snagit, but this ongoing compatibility issue is a pains.

BTW,

Is there any difference between Jing and Snagit video capture? I can't see it.

Hi Bob,
Yes, there are a few differences between Jing and Snagit video capture.

Snagit video does not have a 5 minute limit. Snagit creates an MPEG4 and Jing creates a SWF. Snagit provides the Save Frame feature so you can easily grab images from your video.

Snagit also has profiles so you can automate more of your workflow.

Thank you,
Tiffany
