Snagit for Mac - Add batch export!

I would like a way to export multiple images from SnagIt. Voila has this functionality. From the Snagit application, I can only select one image from the filmstrip at a time. Is there a way to select multiple images? If not, this needs to be added.

Hi Matthew,

Thank you for taking the time to provide such detailed and valuable feedback. In short, Snagit doesn't have the ability to export multiple images. We would, however, like to learn more about what ways you'd like to use a batch export feature. Are you mostly looking to have a way to save a group of files to a specific file format all at once? Or did you have other ideas in mind? Feel free to throw any and all ideas you have at us.

Thank you again for the feedback, we greatly value your input, it goes a long way in helping the TechSmith team have confidence that we are developing software that our customers love.

I'd like to have the ability to select all images and then print them to a PDF. I can natively print to PDF in Mac OSX. I just want to be able to do it to multiple images and produce ONE PDF of all the images.

Hi Matthew,

Thank you so much for the feedback, we'll take this back to the rest of the team and share this use case.

This is incredible that this functionality is still not here. There are so many use cases for this.
I.e. I did a series of images for a blog posting, took over 100 screen captures, but of course they're all in snagproj format by default. Now I want to post many of them but need to individually, one by one, drag and drop to get them into another format.
There was a time I was doing an evaluator's guide with many hundreds of screenshots. Snagproj was the easiest in terms of working with the images to manipulate them, but then when it was time to embed them into the document I needed to one by one export each individual picture.
Not only that, but on Mac you can only seem to work with the images in the tiny little tray at the bottom of the screen so I can do maybe 9 images then I have to scroll.
This is painful.

Two years later and the bumps are still coming.  Batch export for Mac - come on already!

Big bump here. It's almost every time I use Snagit that I take more than one snap. Then I always have to create a folder, drag each one into that folder, then drag all of those into an email or PDF creator or something.

Also, the "document" window or tray at the bottom... I need to "close" several images but not all.. I can hunt that "x" over and over, or make that tray a more standard control that allows multi-selection (this would be the simply way to allow "batch export" as well).

Bump from me too. I'm sure this functionality is available in the windows version.

Overall it's great software, much better than skitch, but this is a bit of a show stopper as far as paying for a license is concerned.

This is functionality that has been available in the Windows version for a long time and has been a big annoyance to not have in the Mac version. I thought v2 would have it for sure, but no dice.

I have started using other products like FF extension Grabit or Papparazzi since I need to be able to work fast - take multiple screenshots and save them quickly to JPGs/PNGs. The one-by-one is not cutting it for me.

Please, please make this a priority.

As I build lots of Powerpoint slides from screenshots, it's a real pain not to have the batch export on OS X. The feature is already available on Windows, why not port it to the OS X build?

Feature Request:
Please add the 'right-click' batch resize image option for SnagIt Mac Version.
The Windows PC version has it and I really miss being able to batch resize a folder of images to make standard sized thumbnails!
Thanks!

I often take a large number of screen captures using this great application, I really like the batch feature on the windows version, is their a feature or will be there be a feature to convert snag format to another in the Mac version?

I have snagit for Windows and use it to batch convert groups of images. Does snagit for the Mac have the same convert images feature?

Another bump!
I'm cataloging over 200 screens during an application redesign, and need a batch export.

Love SnagIt! otherwise, and I use both the Windows and Mac versions. Which, BTW, is another point of confusion and frustration... SNAG and SNAGPROJ are not interchangeable. If they were, I'd transfer to the PC and do the conversion there.

Yeah I wasted over an hour before realising that this functionality does not exist. I capture images a series of images that I wish to bring into a narrative in sequence. I ended up saving each one manually which is one workaround but it's unbelievable that this feature doesn't exist. You really need to engage more with your customers. I would also like the ability to have Snagit rename captured images using some kind of rules I can configure. The auto name snagit provides is not so helpful so if I could export to a particular folder and name my images "web-analysis-1, -2, -3" this would save time. Also being able to send these automatically to a shared area as I'm capturing them, so somebody else could be inserting the images into a document or some other process could be converting them as they appear.

Note to Techsmith: If you explore how your customers are using your products you will not only identify new requirements for your products but also new ways you can market your product. I used to advocate snagit but it simply fails to do what I need it to do, and my expectations I believe are very very modest.

So.... still no capability for this, nor any comment from TechSmith.
This is just *basic* functionality for a product such as this, I can't believe this situation.

Cannot believe this is still no implemented, this is software is not worth 50$ price without this simple feature. Unbelievable...

At least do us all a favor and reply with a position. I can workaround and accept some flaws in software, but I can never accept a rude vendor.

I would also like to point out that not having this feature is not aligned with TechSmith's approach to the Mac version.

From what I can see, the Mac version is designed to be more of a toy than a tool. I can immediately upload to FaceBook! Or YouTube! Or Twitter! I assume that you did this to be cutting edge.

I am working on a wiki, which I think is pretty cutting edge. However, wikis do not accept snagproj files the way Word does. I can upload snagproj files but the wiki editor will not render them, so I just get a blank space in the output.

For those of us using wikis, batch convert is a must. I can't believe that it's not in the Mac version and I can't believe I recommended SnagIt and my company bought it based on my recommendation.

It seems to me that the Mac version is built to be a toy and not a tool. There are two problems with this: 1) the Mac already has tools for these functions that people prefer to use and 2) SnagIt has a reputation as a powerful tool. To have the Mac version be so radically different (i.e., less powerful where it counts) is a big mistake.

Wow, over 10 months and nothing from Techsmith.

The batch export has been urgently requested for a year now and there's been no response from Techsmith. Version 2 completely omitted this much needed feature. Mac users are not fond of having stripped down versions of Windows software.

Looks like it's time to dump Snagit and move to a better product.

Hilarious. Still no response, no statement of intention, nothing. Voila is pretty good and has this functionality, for those of you, like me, who require this functionality on a regular basis.
