Snagit for Windows Server

It would be great if SnagIt was compatible with Windows Server. I was able to have it work in previous versions of SnagIt and Windows Server, but not recently.  It is the only product that allows me to display printed output on the screen when demonstrating software applications that provide printer output.

Thanks,

Rich

Hi Rich,

I will be speaking with the developers on the specific Windows Server compatibility in Snagit, and I will follow-up once I have more information!

Thanks!

I'm using both Windows Server 2012 R2 and 2008 R2.  Windows Server 2012 R2 would be the most important.

Thanks!

The team is investigating Snagit running/working better in the server/virtualized environments and part of that is Windows Server. We don't have a target release date yet on when that will be available, but stay tuned.

Jason,

Glad to hear that the team is working on a server/virtualized environment solution!  Any updates on progress?

Hi Rich,

We're still plugging along! We're currently working to understand all of the environmental variables that come into play with Snagit, so I don't have a more precise timeframe, but we are getting much closer.

Thanks,

Jason

Hi Guys,

I am using Snagit quite successfully on both local Server 2012r2 and on the virtualized one.

1.) Download snagit
2.) right click Properties
3.) Change compatibility to Win7 and Run as Admin
4.) Install Snagit
5.) Once install close it
6.) Browse to Profiles(x86), open TechSmith, and right click Properties of Snagit.exe and follow step 3.
7.) Run Snagit as Admin

Hi Rich, Bri-

We now have compatiblity with Windows Server 2012 R2 (and Microsoft Remote Desktop Services), and we're continuing to look at ways to improve and expand our compatibility with virtualized environments.  You can find more information at http://www.techsmith.com/enterprise-resources.html.

Thank you!

Great, as IT professional (ahum) I use remote desktop and windows 2012r2 as workstation. After reading your post, I have upgraded my license to the latest version and indeed, it seems to work better now. I am using snagit on a daily basis (documentation) so a big thanks  for this !
