SnagIt: new option under program preferences : one default storage folder for all profiles

SnagIt/SnagItEditor

Current sitution: if the storage folder differs from the standard save location, this should be 'set' for each individual profile, one by one.

Currently the storage folder is nót saved in the profiles-backup, i.e. in case of a fresh install, the storage folder should be set again for each individual profile.

Feature request is to:
a) add an option under SnagIt->Tools->Program Preferences->Program Options to store all output in a given folder. This to be applicable for all profiles.
(or assign a storage folder per filetype, e.g. Images, Video, Documents, but for me, I would be already happy with 1 storagefolder)

b) the profile backup to include the storage folder*

* In case of a fresh install on a new drive and the storage folder does not exist, then SnagIt to show a warning that this specific part of the backup (storage folder) cud not be restored and should be updated manually.

Thanks

SnagIt:

Currently one has to assign a save-location(folder) -per- profile.

10 profiles? One has to assign the folder 10 times.

Suggestion: add option to assign a default location for all profiles under Program Preferences->Program Options.
All output will be stored there by default and users can assign another folder for individual profiles in they wish.

Personally: all my stuff, no matter what, goes into 1 profile and I will 'handle' the files lateron (like renaming, moving to other folders, etc.)

As I recently imported all profiles again,
I had to again go into Share->Properties->Folder:Select save folder-location + apply + save (being some 6-7 clicks per profile) for each of my 20-25 profiles
and remembered that I have posted about this before.

Likely I am the only one here getting frustrated about this boring job...?

I'm not sure this is what you mean but have you tried to set the folder per profile in the Share profile settings. It looks to me like this would do what you want when you finish your profile.

Hi Manny, that's the one indeed.

However, I want to have such kind of option under SnagIt-Tools-Program Preferences, i.e. -all- captures, no matter what should be saved in 1 folder.
Again, it would be a option.

User can 'deviate' from that on a per profile basis, e.g. if the capture a video, then they may wish to store the video files in a different folder.

Personally, I would like to have all captures stored in 1 folder and sort out later what to do with the captures.

That's essentially what happens now. All captures are saved in the datastore although that's hard coded as to the location but it is one location. When you save a capture yourself then you can choose the folder location or you can set it on a per profile basis.

Maybe what you want is a way for the user to select the location of the datastore. Something I'd also like to see.

After 4 years I would like to bring this up again. In short:
when files are saved on an external, or encrypted, or network drive, once the drive can not be accessed by SnagIt, the storage paths are reset to default.

An idea would be that SnagIt would warn the user that the drive can not be accessed, then pauses, allowing the user to make it accessible.  After that users to click on [OK].

This to avoid setting the paths again for maybe a large number of profiles.
