Please support Visual Studio 2010 and TFS 2010
My team loves the Team System output option for Snagit, however, we are upgrading to Visual Studio 2010 and TFS 2010 in the near future, and have just found out there is no support for those products. Please consider extending Team System output to VS 2010 and TFS 2010

Is there any indication this has become part of the roadmap for Snag It? Thanks for the update.

Thanks for your feedback and your team's Snagit love!

Good news! Today we released Snagit 11 and several updated Snagit accessories, including version 1.0.2 of the Team System output which adds support for TFS 2010!

You can download the new version here: http://www.techsmith.com/snagit-acces...

The TFS accessory will work with previous versions of Snagit, but you may want to take advantage of a free trial of Snagit 11, which adds greatly improved video capture: http://www.techsmith.com/download/sna...

I have version 10.0.2 and am connected to TFS 2010 on a Windows 7 system. Unfortunately, I get the message: There were no Team Foundation Server detected, please connect to your server in Team Explorer.

Hi Claudio. We think we've resolved the issue. Can you try downloading the output from our accessories page again, reinstalling it, and giving it another go?

Thanks,

Aha. That timestamp should be 2/29/2012. We put a newer version of the accessory up on March 2nd, but it either didn't install correctly for you or you have an outdated version.

Can you try re-downloading the output from the accessories page http://www.techsmith.com/snagit-acces... , closing snagit, and installing the accessory, and let me know if that works?

Thanks,
Chris

Hey Chris, That did the trick. I had to uninstall then go to the directory you gave me and delete the .dll and .xml file. Reinstalled and now it works. Thanks a bunch!

I'm back! Please add support for TFS 2012 now as well! I hope the turn-around time on this can be a bit quicker this time, as it's still fresh in your minds! :)

Hi! I've got an updated TFS output that should work with VS2012. You can consider it as "beta" software, since we have not yet released it, but if you're willing to give it a try, you can grab it at http://www.screencast.com/t/ePAFAopN (password is 'M1chigan').

Note that it will only work with Snagit 11 and greater, because some of the VS2012 assemblies we use to communicate with TFS were moved to .NET 4.5, and we did not support .NET 4 accessories until Snagit 11.

Let me know if you try it!

Thanks,
Chris

Wow! Now that IS faster than last time! Nice work!!

I tested it briefly, and it works perfectly.

I only noticed one issue, which was apparently also present in the previous version of the accessory. Since we just changed servers to move to 2012, the old, non-functioning 2010 TFS server was still in my list of servers in Visual Studio. Now, even though it wasn't selected, Snagit was apparently still trying to use it, and popped up a 404 not found alert when trying to use the accessory. It wouldn't even let me change any options. So I guess the accessory always uses the first server in the list. Once I removed that server from the list in VS, the accessory started working.

Thanks again!! Great work!

Hi there,

I am running into the same issue where accessing the Options dialog tries to access the first server in the list. This is causing problems when the first server does not exist anymore as you then can't open the Options dialog and remove that server.

Cheers,

Imar

Just remove that server through the normal TFS/VS dialogs, and it will be updated in SnagIt.

Great, thanks for that.

It would still be nice if things didn't crash when a server is not available. I have a few TFS servers for clients that I connect to over VPN. Currently, the first one in the list requires VPN. If I am not connected to the associated network, that server can't be reached and I get an error. I could setup a VPN connection to that server, but that in turn means I may not be able to reach another server for which I am trying to add a work item if that requires a VPN connection too.

I really like the idea of this plugin, but it requires a bit more work to be really usable.

Cheers,

Imar

I was hoping it would work! But it doesn't.

Snagit : 9.1.1 (2009)
Accessory version : 1.0.3 (august 2012)
TFS 2010
Windows XP

After having installed the accessory successfully, I see the button "Team Explorer". When I click on "New work item" to send an image, it's asking me my login and password, but it's impossible to connect to TFS 2010. Here is the error I get:

I went at the URL, but the tool available doesn't work. It is an upgrade for VS 2008 clients. Since I don't have that, it doesn't install a thing.

Thank you for your support. Is there anywhere I should ask for help? I really need this to convince people to file our bugs in TFS!
