SnagItEditor v2018 - Library - How to add existing images to the library?

Say I have a few images, they are not in the SnagIt Library.
I open SnagItEditor - at the bottom I have the bar with thumbnails "Recent"
I drag the images from the HDD location into the "Recent" panel.
They show up there. So far okay.

Now I would like to add those to the Library.
Yes, I understand that it is obvious that they aren't showing up there there as they have not been captured by SnagIt.

Vainly looked for a kind of 'workaround' to nonetheless get them into the SnagItEditor Library.

Maybe I am overlooking something, maybe it is simply not possible the way I had in mind.
(Of course one can open the image files 1-by-1 using an image viewer and then create a screenshot, but that's quite a workload and not what I had mind)

Save the image, Hit Save As

SnagIt will automatically save it with it's original file name. So if you don't mess with it, it will remain unchanged.
Same goes for the file location and format. Unfortunately, you'll have to do this one image at a time as there no batch process that I'm aware of.

Then tried two withe the same result: they appeared on the recents bar AND in the library. I am using v2018

Yeah, your right.

I sort my images by date and don't really use the library. I wasn't thinking it through. I downloaded a dozen test images from the web and loaded them into the Editor.

They they were in the library, listed under Today's Images.

So Mike62 can retest it but also check the version he is using as you and I are on 2018 I believe and in MAY be broken in earlier versions

And if he is on 2018 AND it is still broken ... it may be a support issue

Here's the problem the way I see it. I really didn't articulate what I was seeing to well.
There sorted by existing metadata. The sorting process is only as organized as the data allows.

If you bring in an image that was taken in 2015 like this one here.

It gets placed in the Library. But you have to know to look for it in the 2015 Folder to find it.
It won't appear in a recent capture file.
So finding an image that's added automatically. Could easily become no easy task.

Ai!

I am deeply ashamed of myself ...
Rick, Joe, you are right...

Actually I should take the first flight to Slovenia, go down the deepest cave there and hide myself in some corner for a week, feeling embarrassed of myself!

There are no excuses for this dumb question, only a very poor one.
I think I have dragged older images to the 'recent' bar - then checked whether they showed up.
Of course they didn't, but they would, if I would have selected the right period... ahum...

I haven't asked anything here, right...!?

That wasn't a dumb question to me, I've realized I'm library illiterate. but, I learned something about  the Library and how the recent captures tray behaves.

On a rare occasion I'll load a recent capture.Other than that, the library is kind of useless to me.I make my captures and file them right away.

The only bad questions are the ones that go unanswered. Even when the answer is staring you in the face.

Not stupid at all. You made us all test it and think so nothing was wasted.. Take that from someone who has posted his share of "Duh! and Oops" questions. I actually learned something as I had never considered the question before
However if you feel the need for some repentance via some flagellation ...
