SnagItEditor v2019 - customizing toolbar - the 'More' sometimes sticks to an added button

SnagItEditor v2019 - customizing toolbar - when moving a button that is left (and maybe also right) of the pulldown 'More' button, then the 'More' button also moves along.

e.g. when adding 'Pen' to the toolbar and moving it to another place on the toolbar, the 'More' button moves along, i.e. it also relocated.

Have made a video of 'Simplify' button, that I want to remove.
As the 'More' button is also moving along, I can't remove the Simplify button...

Regretfully I can't upload the video, because I need to make use of services that I don't use.

Hopefully a screenshot will explain.

As for the "Pen"button and the "More" button that is moving along (sticking as a magnet to the Pen button): workaround MAY be:  Exit SnagItEditor, Exit SnagIt, relaunch all.
Now I could add the pen button without having the More-button more or less 'glued' to it.

Odd, I've been using the beta version for months.

And the more button kept moving to the left.I didn't really care or try to move it. But I did today, and it moved easily,

I also removed the Simplify Button without issue.

I know you just installed 2019 today.Maybe you should try restarting your computer?

The reason that the more button is moving also is because you are trying to move the More list.

In your screenshot the simplify is not already pinned to your toolbar and there for is showing in the more list.

If you look in the tools window you will see that the simplify tool is already/stiil there to move to your toolbar.

Click and drag the simplify tool from the tools window  to the toolbar and the icon next to the More button will change.

Put another way,  If you don't have a tool already pinned to your toolbar it will be in the More list.
What ever tool you used last from the more list while doing some editing will be showing next to the More button when you try to customize the toolbar.

:)

Joe - thanks. I just rebooted and will see what happens when playing around with the toolbar.
Maybe it was a one off glitch.

Dubie: I can add and remove items and move them around to another place. The issue with the 'Pen' in my first post, when doing this now, the 'more' button remains in place, as it should. So, no issue.

Q: Curious to know - what happens when you go into customizing and drag the 'Simplify' button to the collection or, let's say, all the way to the left? Does 'More' goes along as well? Maybe it is by design, I don't know.

In the below I drag it from the toolbar to the collection (in Customizing toolbar mode) or drag it to another place.

Anyway, it is a minor thing, maybe I am doing something wrong  :-)

All I know is, I can reposition all the tools to wherever I want. Including the More Button.

And remove or add any tool, including the Simplify tool.

So I don't why your having issues?

I missed the Pen part of your post but it seems you have that sorted. Probably was just a glitch

In your last post moving the simplify and the More button moving with it.
That is happening because the simplify tools just happens to be what you had used from the more list last and trying to move it you are really trying to move the More list.

When not in customize mode, click the more list and select a different tool.
Now go to customize the toolbar again and the different tool you just selected should be next to the more button.

So for example if you selected the Eraser tool it should now be next to the More button and if you try to move it to the collections the More button will move with it this time.

You can't remove the More list to the collections box.

Thats how its functioning for me anyways.

Okay So Yeah, it doesn't matter what I add or subtract from the tool bar.
The "More Button" always changes position.

I thought, let me test SnagIt 2018 since I still have it installed. I removed the Stamp Icon and the MORE Button vanished. It's missing in action and cannot be found.LOL

So anyway, I don't always feel like repairing other versions of SnagIt, because what usually happens is installation files get installed in a wrong folder.
SnagIt 2018 got installed in an old SnagIt 12 folder last time around. SnagIt installers are flawed. Observe the folder and .exe's below.

Had I deleted that file before hand, it wouldn't have happened.

However, SnagIt 2019 will update into 2018's folder one day if I don't remove it.So I probably will. It makes it impossible to answer specific 2018 questions at times. That's why I try to run more than one version.

Thanks to you both for commenting. Really appreciated.

Anyway, as said, it is not a big deal.
Joe: with me the more button does not always changes position.
Below URL is to a unlisted youtube video - it shows what I meant.
(Ignore the messy toolbar - whilst 'testing' I have been adding and removing buttons)

I see what you mean.

I've been using SnagIt 2019 beta for so long. I pretty much forgot how 2018 functions.
I like "Favorites" so much I only opened 2018 to help someone with a 2018 specific question.I had to be careful to not take screen shots of anything 2019. If I did I masked out the features.

Yeah, I remember now that the More button was always stationary in 2018. Why it pulled a vanishing act on me is a mystery. I checked this morning.
I ran a repair install and its still missing.

I can probably delete the registry folder, uninstall it completely, get rid of the SnagIt 12 folder its currently installed in. And reinstall it.

But I'm afraid 2019 will update into 2018 folders 3 months from now and I'll be fighting with that.

I think I may leave everything be for the moment and raise this one with tech support.

You see, I like the Glassy effect SnagIt 12 offers. I have created my own "Steps" The auto number steps feature, and modified the original teardrop and circle pointer. Occasionally, I would like to Finnish a instructional image with those steps. There not perfect, but they require the Glassy effect to look good.
These are snippets of images I was creating when SnagIt 12 was the Current version of SnagIt.

I replaced the original Step PDF's in SnagIt 2018. Positioned them over the image above and gave them the same color.

Well, I forgot about the Gradient Effect.Thats applied as well. If I'm remembering correctly. Another good feature that TechSmith took away.

Anyway, I used the eyedropper on the darker of the color range color.
Heres what they look like when Applied using 2018.

So that killed my custom steps usage. This is why SnagIt 2018 is currently installed  in a SnagIt 12 folder.I tried reinstalling 12 a short while back.Because I miss that functionality. The programs all share the same files/datastore. If you close 2019 and open 12. The same image on the canvas waiting for further editing.
But then 2018 installs an update in 12 folder and 12 is no longer functional. I've played the same game with SnagIt 10 and 11 in the past. The SnagIt installers can't seem to chose the right folder.

Thanks Joe for talking the time for this elaborate reply.
Truly appreciate it.
