Hey, ive been using Camtasia for a bit now and wonder if there are Hotkeys/Options for the following things:

1. Is there a way to leave a Group opened until i close it? The auto closing really lowers my productivity.

2. Is there a way that, when i cut out a part of a clip, move the remaining to parts together without doing it manually with my mouse?

(3. Is there a way to give a custom size to the canvas besisdes the fixed ones? Like 31%)

1.You can chose to "Ungroup" but you can lose applied animations .There is no way to lock a group open.

2. You can select the media, Right Click and select "Ripple Delete"

3. Canvas sizes are "Fixed" you cannot set your own custom sizes.

On #3,

You can change the canvas size per project by Right-Click on the canvas and select"Project Settings"
click the "Canvas Dimensions" field and then "Custom"

Type in your dimensions and then click apply.

If you use a certain dimension alot you can set the canvas default in Edit>Preferences>Canvas Tab.
Same as above,  Click in the "Canvas Dimensions" field,  then "Custom" type in your dimensions and click OK.

When you open the editor now that will be the canvas size by default. You can change it per project if needed as I posted above or go back into "Preferences" and set a different default size.

One last option if you use different custom canvas sizes alot is to open the editor
Change the canvas size (Right-click on the canvas>project settings>custom

Type in your dimensions,  click apply. Then Save as a "Project". (No media needs to be on the timeline)

Now when you open the editor and need one of your custom canvas sizes just open that project.
Add your media, edit, etc.

:)

I too suspected the OP might be talking about the canvas view percent. Probably should have referenced that in my post. Just thought I would post some canvas How-to just in case it may be helpful.

Personally having the view percent settable as a option I don't see as needed because (at least for me)
that is ever changing while editing.  Primarily zooming in and out.

Yea, i meant the size of that preview, not the video itself. But it was the least important point, thats why i wrote it in ( ).
I think my other 2 problems are solved with cutting ungrouped + using ripple delete. Thanks a lot, that will definitly increase my productivity!

Edit:

This happened when i had switched maximized and small window. Is there no way to do that directly?

The percent has no effect on the production/rendering of your video it is simply the viewing zoom percent for editing.

It will change dependent on the size of the editor and/or the canvas work area.
ie; having a lot of tracks shrinks that area down thus the view of the canvas gets shrunk down.

You can manually change the zoom percent by clicking on the field and clicking one of the zoom percents
or use the hotkeys Ctrl+Plus to zoom in or Ctrl+Minus to zoom out.

Or the way I work is to click on the work area background (off the canvas) and use my mouse scroll wheel to zoom in and out.

** If you are zoomed way in you can hold the Spacebar and left-click and hold and drag the canvas around on the background/workspace

Yea, but i wanted to know if i can set a manual size aside from the pre defined ones, because i wanted to show my canvas exactly in the size of a small youtube video to edit it accordingly.
However, this is not necessary for me anymore and my other 2 problems are solved.

Thanks a lot!
