Im going crazy here. I'm doing video after video and the sound is missing, it seems to go mute, that is I must use troubleshooting in windows to unmute the mic. Last video I started, checked the mic was working properly but now when the recording is finished (im recording the screen and talking) the sound is nowhere to be found. Guess I must unmute it again and do the whole recording again. I am really wasting my time here.

Thanks for writing! I have the same problem and always thought it was a Windows glitch. However, it only mutes in Camtasia, not for other programs.

Hi bbj;

I wonder if this is related to an option in Windows with relation to a Communications option. With Camtasia closed, can you please right-click on the speaker icon in your Windows 10 System tray and go to Sounds (see: https://www.screencast.com/t/Uis9C9QZTQhM ) and click on the 'Communications' tab and select "Do Nothing" as seen in the below screenshot:

Once you have set that option, please click "OK" then in the Sound control panel (the previous window), please click on Recording and then double-click on your microphone. This will open the Mic properties window and I would like you to click on the "Advanced" tab and deselect the "Give exclusive mode applications priority."

With those settings changed, can you please launch Camtasia and try recording once more? Do you still have the same issue?

Dear Robert,
I couldn't find the "Sounds" option window in the way that you navigated in Windows 10 Pro.
For me I found [START] - settings - System - Sound (column on the left) - [Sound Control Panel] (on the top right).
For me this opens up the "Sound" window with the "Communications" tab. Then the rest follows.
