This is so if I need to overwrite a section of video with a frozen frame (because I moved the mouse around too much but the audio is good), I don't have to keep trying different values until I get exactly the number of frames that was in the video I need to overwrite.

Tools/Options UI should also work this way.

1. Create extend frame at playhead on selected clip via right click or “E” hotkey
2. Move the extended clip to a new track
3. Extend it or trim it to fit over the portion you want to over-write
4. Cut or Trim out the unwanted portion
5. Insert the extended clip where you cut/trimmed out the unwanted portion

Hmmmm. Seems to be a backward step to me. The promotional video for Cam8 of 'Cam7 man' being stupid is looking a bit ironic now!
Or am I missing something?

I persinally find it sometimes hard to follow a silent video, especially if the mouse cursor is tiny.

If any of my videos are unclear due to missing audio and you'd like more clarification I would be happy to make a quick Jing with audio as I have more time to do so now.

However, I am immediately missing "Extended frame duration" dialog or any ability to precisely set the duration of the frame instead of straining my wrist to drag an edge until the duration is what I need.
Hopefully this is the relevant topic to post this.
Cheers,
Igor

I can see that a tool tip has been added, so that when we extend a frame, it displays we've added the fixed 1 second length. However, I can't see any new way of adding in the AMOUNT by which we want to extend the frame.
Are we still restricted to the 1 second default? If so, how does an added tool tip help?

Drag that clip to a higher empty track, the drag out its right end until the indicator shows the seconds and frames you want
Select/Slide the part of original clip that was after the inserted 1 sec frame extension to make room, then pull down the extended frame clip; slid the moved original clip back in place against the end of the [now extended] frame extension
For me, this process seems to go very fast

Today's release of Camtasia Studio 8.0.3 includes many improvements based on customer feedback. One of the changes involves the extend frame workflow. You can now right click the clip and enter a duration. Here's a screenshot: http://www.screencast.com/t/onBG7IkgA7
Here is a complete list of changes in this free upgrade for all customers using Camtasia Studio 8.x. http://www.techsmith.com/camtasia-ver...
You will see a new option for the audio waveform, easier audio editing and much more!
Thanks for all the feedback, and thanks for using Camtasia Studio!

only whole units and 1/10th of units generally work
but using something like 2.54 sometimes will get you closer to what you want [in final frame count]
have you tried the drag-out method described above?
