Speed up playback just for editing

  • Under Consideration

I wish there were a way to speed up the playback of my project just for editing, without actually changing the speed of the final published version

This would be helpful because I would be able to listen and edit in high speed but then play back in normal speed.

my only solution is have to render out while i do something else, then review in any playback or editing program that exists, free, expensive or custom.
INSANE when putting together work that they have not solved the problem.
I am now going to start using resolve as it has screen capture and a real editor that can playback.
Techsmith, you are looking the necessity of your program by omitting such a basic requirement for productivity
Send me email when i see that feature :)

if you custom produce to MP4 with controller [player], you can change the playback speed when viewing

I've been following this for a while, and I'm also surprised TechSmith hasn't put more emphasis on adding this feature that's been requested extremely often.  I've almost moved all of my screen-share based video recording from Premier Pro to Camtasia, but the lack of playback speed control while editing (not the clip speed) is making me wonder whether I'm now offsetting my other productivity gains from the beautiful simplicity of Camtasia.

I too would LOVE to see this feature in Camtasia, but...

They FINALLY put real keyboard shortcuts into version 2019...

I'm not even sure Camtasia is on board with INDUSTRY-STANDARD "J K L" playback, yet.

Fast-playback has only been possible in Premiere Pro for 5 years, so Camtasia might have it in another 5.  Then I will FINALLY be able to ditch Premiere Pro (only due to the cost and lack of annotations)...

Of course, If Premiere Pro adds annotations, then I can ditch Camtasia.

This following request is as old as this Get Satisfaction forum.
With regards to this feature request.
This Idea dates back 7 years. Before that TechSmith used another platform to carry their  forum. I don't believe theres other content dated older than the link posted below at this time.

https://feedback.techsmith.com/techsmith/topi/increased_playback_speed_in_edit_mode

Myself, I use Premiere Pro all the time. Yet rarely use/need the feature.

However, when I do use it. Its great.
It's requested/mentioned a lot, in a lot of posts.Just not as official requests.I voted for the idea.
After 7 years, my optimism wanes.

JKL shortcuts would indeed bring the ability to increase or decrease beyond / below real time. It's high on my personal wishlist and others on the product team. We're in the midst of a multiyear upgrade to our core decoding pipeline and rendering engine. Once those changes are finished JKL is near the top of the list of work for that team. I can't commit to timelines and I definitely feel the pain of your long wait for this feature. I will update you all once we begin work on this in the future.

Yet another vote for higher speed playback, and to have it in *both* directions! Coming from Pro Tools, Avid, and Premiere platforms - this slows me way down.
