Is there a Spotlight feature in Camtasia Windows? I see it listed in Help, but there's far fewer visual effects in my brand-spanking new download than that shows.

It seems that any application of the spotlight also blurs sharpness in the rest of the image showing, and there's no control for that. I wish I could keep sharpness, just visually spotlight the one area.

One way to overcome this is to create an image you can use for the spotlight. Make the image with a black background and an area on the image that is solid and totally transparent. Then make the background have some opacity. Then insert that as a layer above your video.

Ahhh ... it's in annotations ... not visual effects ... I ... see!

The "Help" for visual effects list it, so I was assuming it was in visual effects. Sigh.

Thanks!

So R. Neil Haugen,

If you want to have sharpness in your spotlights there's a workaround.

Here's a couple of PNG's to get you started. There 3480 x 2140. So they aren't big enough for 4K work. If you don't have access to an image editing program and want some larger images. I'll make you some.
Just right click on them and chose "Save Image As"

Drag one of these over an image and adjust scale and opacity to taste.
You can apply  fade transitions to the beginning and end as well. That way it behaves just like the Spotlight callout.
You can right click the created Spotlight and save it to the library so you don't need to keep creating it. You just need to keep resizing it.

Regards,Joe
