Hi Guys

Have been using camtasia for a couple of months now to render videos with our logo and subtitles and for me its been perfect and much easier to use than any other program out there.

I have a .vtt file which I convert into an .srt via subedit I then import the .srt file into camtasia no issue, howevery so often using the same process when I try to import the srt it gives me this error

Camtasia cannot import this file this maybe an unsupported file type or the file could be corrupted

Any ideas how to get around this please?

Many thanks

Something to try, it might help. Open the converted SRT in Windows Notepad and resave it from there. Any special coding will be stripped away in this process. Just remember to keep the SRT file name extension. Let me know if that does it.

Thank you for your reply,

Unfortunately that didn't seem to solve the issue.

Thanks again.

to add to David's suggestion ...

does it only happen with different srt caption sets?

if so, their might be a character type in the vtt's srt file that Camtasia doesn't like?

if it happens with the same file sets [works, then doesn't], you might do a file compare with something like Beyond Compare 4, to see if you can spot any differences between the srt files

I suggest you try an online converter. https://toolslick.com/conversion/subtitle/vtt-to-srt

Theres probably a compatibility issue with the software you're running now.
Converting text online is a relatively fast process. 10's to a 100's times faster than uploading and converting a video.
I don't envision the process as being to much of a nuisance.
