Step Tool Incrementing behavior change

I'd love to see the step tool change with regards to its behavior. I'm presently working my way through roughly 300 scanned images. These images are all pages of a printed training guide. I'm capturing them so I may use them on-line so I don't have to lug a book around. (I'm the instructor) Because I reference the pages as I teach, I use the step tool to insert a large red circle at the top left with the matching page number inside. I placed and edited the first one, then copied to the clipboard.

IF I were pasting onto the same page, the steps would increment just fine. But I'm closing the current page and opening a new page. And when I paste into the new page, the same step number is present.

I'd love to see a controllable behavior that allowed the step to increment regardless of the image I'm loading. That would alleviate my having to paste, then edit the step!

I know that this is an after the fact suggestion but the next time with a multi-page document, you should think about using scan software that can do continuous pages, thus creating one image as far as SnagIt is concerned.

Depending on the format, you can also combine images into one "book." A couple years back, a cousin gave me a book he had scanned as 124 PDF images. I used PDF Pen Pro to combine all 124 into one single PDF document (and index it to make it searchable). If the docs are PDFs, one can combine with the Preview app if you are on a Mac by simply dragging images into the sidebar.
