Step Autonumber suggestion

I think it was 11.3 or 11.4 that introduced the nifty little "Step" that increments. I've been finding this to be very handy. It's great that I can repeatedly click and see the number increment.

However, it would be even handier if there were an option to retain the step numbering across captures. For example, perhaps I've captured 20 different screens. What would be really super helpful with a project I'm working on is if I could click the first capture and insert a step and see 1. Then click the next capture and when I click it auto incremented to 2 and so on.

Presently, when a new capture is opened, I am forced to click to enter the number edit mode and type the number and it's cumbersome.

I wouldn't want this generically turned on for everything, but it would be great if there were an option to enable it if I wanted.

Thanks... Rick :)

Actually, in thinking this a bit further, it might even work better if it worked this way.

Perhaps you copy the step and the value is 16. You paste onto the new capture and the value is still 16. Either increment the value upon pasting, or offer a keyboard shortcut to increment the value.

Cheers... Rick :)

I've run into this myself - this would be very handy. Thank you for sharing the idea, and I hope more people join in in support!
